Nice and cool out here, however I do not have my weather station up since we sold the house last year.

I imagine it may of been in the high teens, maybe. I am not one to gauge temperature as I am half Polar Bear.

Looks like a new record for average March minimum temps, coming in at 24.8c (prev. 24.3c in 1983).
Yesterday wasn't quite hot enough to get us to a new average maximum record for the month, but March did equal the previous mark of 32.3c, set in 2005.
This cool, dry weather is nice for a change but I think a Southerly 'flush' like this means the chances of any meaningful rain are out the window for this season.

I have been rehearsing for my Dry Season hibernation because some of my comments about the Brisbane floods on Facebook might have earned me a permanent ban on WZ if I posted them here. Its Brisbane, its built on a flood plain and for some unexplained reason people refuse to believe it can flood.

Dry Season and cooler weather? Maybe in a couple of weeks it might be out here in the Rasmussen Badlands but not today. Lol.

I grew up in Liverpool west of Sydney. We had floods every year, sometimes twice. Grafton and Lismore always had big ones. It seemed normal to me.

When Marcia came through I remember a lot of warm muggy weather afterwards, definitely wasn't cooler afterwards. Did Debbie suck up all the humidity as she traveled further?

Whilst in the northerly flow into Debbie we had DPs around 27C.

Two days after debbie was hot and muggy then the Sw change came in after she moved well south. Nothing unusual for a low now in the tasman. Moisture coming back in today.

Got to work in my shed for a couple of hours, sweating like a pig but what the hell its been months since I have been able to work out there and I'm getting as toey as a roman sandal to get some more wooden cars made for grandkids birthdays.

Muggy and hot tonight, we still have the aircons on to sleep with. Going to be a long dry season with nice weather (if you like that sort of thing) and the wait for the next Wet will be bloody agony.

Not a zot out my way either Mick.

So I am going for a minimum of 7C for Rasmussen with probably 2 days of light mists along Ross River in mid July and that's about the only highlight of the dry season I can see.

Oh I forgot the show and V8's bringing in multiple germ spreaders and the resulting flu epidemic Yay.

But at least it will mean I won't have to mow every 5 days.

Intense little burst of heavy rain for about 20 minutes in Mundingburra just finished. Looks to be heading towards Thuringowa.

My street completely covered after about 10 minutes.

This was after about 10 minutes of extremely heavy rain this afternoon. It was some of the heaviest rain I've ever seen and it was so loud on my roof that it startled me a little at first. It even did some damage to some of the guttering at my place. Pity it seems it was isolated to Mundingburra, Aitkenvale, Cranbrook area.

Yeah it is a pathetic amount. I was watching the channel 9 news a week before Debbie finally arrived and they were saying as how the average dam capacity was 70% that they would have to look at enforcing water restrictions in 12 months. Spokesman was moaning about how little rainfall that they had - seems Debbie fixed that for them. Back in the 1980's it was a good deal worse than this with a lot of people leaving town due to a lack of water.

Aah well maybe the low in the Gulf might bring us a bit of rain.

Flu jab yesterday and starting to feel a bit crook so that means its working. Had to have the aircon on last night just to get to sleep.

Not much chance of anything happening rain wise by the looks of it. This grumpy old wombat is a sad panda.

Just came back from Mission Beach. Moderate rain most of the way to Rollingstone. Then nothing.

Nice solid shower this morning at Lucinda. If only it would move south a bit. Almost forgot what real rain is like.

And the lethargy of the dreaded Dry Season has begun. 4 days 1 post aah well at least you got to see some decent rainfalls slipperfish.

Dry low humidity and cooler overnight temperatures makes it liveable but boring.

Orange normally indicates high rainfall. In our case it's probably just a dust cloud blowing across what's left of the dam.

What to post about?
Umm?
23C minimum?
No rain?
Low humidity?
Finally getting back to my shed again?
Mowed last week but only once?

Looks like all the rain is gone until the end of the year. Very sad really as we are way behind in our annual rainfall, and by the looks of the next couple of weeks that situation is not going to change.

Was up at the Fletcher over the Easter weekend for a look. Hardly a soul there. Unheard of at Easter where it is usually standing room only. Might have had something to do with the fact that the creek had absolutely no water in it. I have only ever seen that once before in all my time in this region. Crazy.

Bleak dry season ahead.

It's sad, but we will see a return to average (and above average) seasons in the years ahead.

I think what made this season so different was the multiple missed opportunities we've had, some of the inexplicable.

Frustrating.

Gawd its slowing down in here as the siesta of the Dry Season hits us like a tone of bricks. Overcast this morning with a hint of rain around the traps. Not going to get too excited that we could see something happen though.

We enjoyed the cool of the dawn service at Thuringowa this morning. Caught up with a few mates from my army days and had a quick chin wag but didn't go to either RSL instead went to son in laws for gunfire breakfast with him and a few of his Afghanistan mates. I may have a had a few rumbos.

A couple of very quick showers a couple of days ago didn't even register in my Nylex.

Gidday all. Please spare a thought for all those people who bought cartons of sardines for our non event cyclone. 2 days post cyclone season and they will be looking at them say why the hell did I buy that muck and then either taking to a food bin or chucking them out.

I have turned my rain gauge upside down because, well lets face it, the chances of any significant rainage is pretty slim between now and December.

All you Townsvillians should be living on cloud nine now.

New sports stadium and now a hydro plant for the Burdekin dam.

grin

The stadium is a go but the Burdekin Falls Hydro is not. No formal agreement, no feasibility study, nothing but a couple of pollies mouthing hot air. When I hear it in the Federal Budget I will believe it. And yes we are still firmly in the grip of drought with pumping costs from the Burdekin Falls Dam now at $34,000.00 a day and that is basically at a slightly higher rate of water than what is being used and lost to seepage and evaporation. Its going to cost $7,900,000.00 just to pump until the end of this year which is coming straight out of rate payers pockets. The state government hasn't even offered to help defray even part of the costs. Ross Dam is hovering at 15% capacity. 4th failed wet season in a row.
