Yes, a big fail from the BOM this morning, 28C already in the CBD. I'm trying my hand at some amateur forecasting on Facebook- the forecast I made last night was for 32C in the CBD due to that westerly change.

There did seem to be a weak Southerly working its way up the coast, e.g. Bellambi, Wattamolla and the Airport, but it now seems to have dissipated. Maybe it was just a seabreeze. Already it's 30.4 in the CBD and there is no sign of a Southerly near Sydney now so 32 might be on the money.

That southerly is predicted to stick to the coastal fringe until early afternoon so an easy 32, maybe 33 for the City with the UHI effect.

I see that the BOM are now agreeing with you and have adjusted the forecast at 11:11AM to fit what is actually happening. The weak Southerly seems to have got going again so it probably won't go much higher.

aaaand we're back to coolish, clear days with a bit of wind. Meanwhile, the rain event at the end of the week (tomorrow actually) is fizzling with every forecast run, to "possible showers" Fri and Sat. Follow rain would have been extremely beneficial.

But since the bureau struggles with forecasting, maybe we'll get something.

Looks like this event is finished. Depending on which model is right, the next event looks likely to be mainly for the North East of the state. GFS has the event extending down the coast towards Sydney, but not reaching very far inland.

For Sydney, rainfall totals for the month are close to the November monthly average, so any additional rain will take us above that. Looking at the models, it looks like one more day of sunshine followed by endless South Easterlies - Manchester by the Pacific.

The latest forecast for the metro looks a little robotic again

Fri: isolated showers
Sat: isolated showers
Sun: isolated showers
Mon: isolated showers
Tue: isolated showers
Wed: isolated showers later in the day

Yes that forecast is a pile of putrid, stinking crap.

I'm not BoM bashing but referring to the weather itself. It hurts my brain looking outside at everything shimmering in the perfect, blue sky sunshine today and then thinking about what is coming.

GFS extended, albeit fantasy forecasting, does provide some light at the end of the gloomy scudfest tunnel we are about to enter.

Who do we sing for?
Same here mate. East terrace. I'll get wet too.
I don't care when it rains, just as long as it's not between 7.30 and 9.30 pm on Saturday night.

Forecast took a downturn this arvo. Now storms have come into the equation and the scattered showers are back. Bugger!!!
I'd normally love this forecast, but not on game day!!!
Please Huey, don't send it down.

Hey Homer....

Just curious as to your interest in real football.

Are you a league convert who has seen the light or a long time football fan? I refuse to call it 'soccer'.

Hearing some great stories at the moment from league types who used to hate football, went to a WSW match, and now love it and are hooked for life.

I am from England originally so was hooked anyway.
