Actually looks like a shower about 40k west of here. Only light - might get a little better in the next half hour or so smile

Vis satellite shows a big mushrooming cloud over the Millthorpe area. That would be the one smile

The thing about the weather at this time of year its consistency. You don't get any days that are particularly hot or cool, unlike Spring. Cold fronts are uncommon. Highs are slow-moving. The weather tends to get into ruts. Long dry spells and long wet spells are common, often in the same year.

So last month, the highs were further South allowing room for persisent Easterlies, with frequent rain and showers. When high pressure vacates the Tasman in Autumn (and also in Winter), troughs and lows form and reform enhancing the precipitation and sometimes bringing in a bit (or a lot) of wind. That's another thing, Autumn tends to be fairly calm. Sea breezes and Southerlies are much quieter, compared to Spring and Summer sea gales and Southerlies. Westerlies, when they occur, are still weak.

In early April this year, the belt of high pressure shifted North, clearing the weather, blocking the formation of troughs and lows and pushing the Easterlies further North. They even let a cold front through and will again on Wednesday.

My take anyway. Thousands disagree. So I'm just enjoying the warm, calm, sunny weather, while interested to see what comes next.

Potential is there for some widespread snow, but lots of rain too across NSW.

Best chance for snow lies between 1pm and Evening.
Good sling shot cold pool with sub 536 thickness on the western side of the ranges.

536 thickness is pretty impressive for this time of year.
Orange going for -3 to 8 on Thursday.
I dare say a few people unaware of this change are going to get quite a surprise.
Dave M's first frosts of the season are in store as well.
Anzac Day once again is the turning of the seasons.
Very spot on this year.

The way it should be played!!

Well the afternoon ended up quite clear cloud wise, a little SE pushed any development away and by the time I finished golf the breeze turned NE.

Bring on tomorrow for some fun!!

Nuvver warm one. My closest aws (Norah Head) tracking slightly above for averaged min and max. Looks like only a pair of below av temp days coming up. Should be thankful for small mercies I suppose.

Glorious day, 26.5C outside now, has just gone past the forecast of 26C for Anzac Day.
With no humidity and cool nights, perhaps the last great day of the shoulder season, so a day to savour.

They really do need an official weather station in Greta-Branxton!
Currently 27.7C now, and dropping, but very pleasant and not hot at all.

AXS ain't the ECL model ..... if GFS doesn't have one, its not worth considering LOL.

I'm just hoping the weather will be stable for wings over illawarra next weekend . Nice calm and sunny would be great.
