What a difference a month or so makes, from 32c at 7pm to just under 20c. Nice moonrise tonight. Must have been a yellow supermoon lol.

*I'm still on page 1 HF, depends on your settings I guess.

Nil, of course, but definitely a night for a hoodie.

My 20yo Oregon desktop weather station is as good as dead.
Time slowed, doesn't register pressure, now I can't receive external temperature frown

Any recommendations for a cheap replacement? Under $100.

Stick this one into google search.

Wireless Weather Station with Rain Gauge and Forecasting - XC0346

it's a tad over $100 but you should beware that any weather station in that price range may have issues.

Thanks ColdFront, have brought it up. Will explore.

Bought a cheapie Holman at Bunnings for $19. Had all I wanted, but couldn't read it in most light. You know when you can't distinguish between a 5 an 8 a 6 because you can see the extra bits.

My sisters identical Oregon is years older & still going perfectly. On the wall in a clean house in Armidale. Mine is well travelled, & been filling up with dust since I've lived out here, 7 years. grin

I somehow lost my original external sensor. The replacement is 5 years old & still working fine, considering the heat & dust.

A pearler of a day today..

We went and watched the release of Euromo the 100 yr old Green Turtle at Kurrimine Beach yesterday..poor bugga had taken 5 months to recover from Floaters..one of the blackfells from the rehab centre told me it had been full of 9 kg's of sand which had almost killed it.....yesterday though soon as Euramo saw the water it took off down the beach (as fast as a turtle can go anyway) and swam happily away...Great job Manduburra Rehab Centre..!!!

Nice photo's there Ron Bonjovi..!

Pretty desolate looking country out there at Chilligoe..I bet it gets dusty with all that red dirt..

So what do our beloved models think we will get out this rain event later in the week..?..I've seen a bit of chopping and changing already in the projected totals already..

Is it mainly the central Qld coast that is expected to get the bigger totals..?

Heartwarming story, Scott, pity they're not totally protected, maybe then, fewer jellyfish?

Grass is slowing down, am watering a bit, maybe an inch of rain at the end of the week?

Great working weather.

Yes Dormant I feel the same way..I wish the Dugong were protected as well...I hope they don't go the way of the Steller's Sea cow...what a magnificent creature a 30 foot Dugong would have been..!

Most of the heavy rain will be south of Cairns.

Bureau of Meteorology

Issued at 3:06 pm EST on Tuesday 16 May 2017

Issue Number: 1

A surface trough is likely to form in the Coral Sea near the southern tropical coast on Wednesday and then move slowly southwest onto the coast, providing a focus for increased shower and rain activity.

Widespread rainfall totals of 100 to 200 mm are forecast to occur across the watch area from Wednesday evening through to Friday evening, with isolated heavier totals up to 400 mm possible.

River level rises above the minor flood level are possible based on forecast rainfall. Heavy rainfall may also lead to localised flash flooding.

Catchments at risk within the Flood Watch area include the Mulgrave, Russell, Johnstone, Tully, Murray, Herbert, Bohle, Ross, Haughton, Don, Proserpine and Pioneer rivers, and parts of the Burdekin and Fitzroy rivers. For those catchments affected by ex-TC "Debbie" during March and April, flood levels during this event are expected to be significantly lower.

Well..... looks like we might've got *almost* half a mill.:D
The fading trusty green rain gauge, is still holding up, stuck together with sticky tape, on a bit of a lean, stuck in a pot, too close to the house, etc. But it will do for the next 6 months. smile

Some decent drizzle on the island but nothing heavy. Great fun getting home though. @ hours from the Cruise liner terminal to home on the south side.
