My little frost predictor estimates a min temp of -0.7 tomorrow morning, could range from +0.8 to -2.2. Currently 3.5.

Certainly looks like another reasonable cold change sat evening.

You might be in a bit of a pattern of weekend cool changes over the next few weeks smile

For some that's good smile For many "normal people" it's rubbish grin

We reached -1.1, so forecast based on the 9pm obs were a little conservative last night.

Weather building nicely for Saturday/Sunday.

Could well be a bit more vigorous in the 2nd half of May DM, 'longwave' trough approaching but slow moving. At the moment most of the changes are going to be sliding/weakening as they approach. Good conditions for those high pressure zones to the NW.

So Saturday is looking pretty wet.
Wonder what's the likelihood of solid showers during the afternoon?

I am heading to the footy at Bellerive that day.

BOM 3 day model has precip starting around 4pm, 10 day model and GFS are tending to be after that. Hopefully you will stay dry. smile

It looks bland and cool to mild for three weeks. So here's a flashback to something nice May 6 2015 : 2 years to the day tomorrow! Snow to 350m

Great sight and great shot.
I recall May 4th here that year very well because I was lucky enough to be atop my local hill in w.a and there was the lightest of dustings as well - obviously all part of the same system. I believe NZ got early may snow also.

Morning all,

Top photo there Yep!

A decent amount of pre frontal cloud crossing us this morning, seems like some good rainfalls on the way with this approaching front, GFS showing a strong ECL just to our Southeast tomorrow morning with quite a strong Southwesterly airflow! Should be pretty wild down towards the Peninsular tonight. grin

Currently a mild and sunny 17.8C, Baro- 1009.1, NNW 21 km/h gust- 32 km/h.

Yep - yours or not - thanks for sharing, what a lovely shot smile

So how was it on the weekend?

Hobart seemed to be about 3mm but I notice good old Strahan did about 40, fairly typical I suppose.

I had hoped more of an ecl might have formed to wet the eastern side more.

Seems some nice snow in the usual areas though.

Earlier I was reading through the commentary of the May 2015 snow event, we have a good archive of facts on here. Snowline was probably closer to 400m, slight correction.

Weekend in Hobart was calm cloudy and cool...typical weather for most Mays I would suggest...Rose Bay High has updated its website presentation of the webcam view, they have added a daily time lapse view via youtube...and zoomed in a bit to remove the ugly view of the highway expansions at the front!

...bit late with the report... 52mm in the gauge Sunday morning and a good blanket of snow on Mount Owen. Bring on the low level snow events.

Cool morning here with a minimum of 2, now 6. Clear skies and a light SE. Very heavy dew!

Nice pic, Yep. Definitely a cold winter in 2015.

The forecast and latest model runs are increasingly out of alignment for Friday. Models look more confident that a low will approach the east/NE and bring rain to the north and east. Forecast still going for frosty then sunny.

Certainly not keeping up with PH rainfall, but we did drop to 0.0 this morning and had some light frost on the ground.

-1 again this morning, promise of some needed rain in the next week or so. At this rate we'll be 400mm YTD by the end of June on last years exceptional falls...
