That's what a BOM spokesman said too. That, plus the fact that it was happening in the dead of night.

Plus not a few people were on edge - a minor victory for the bad guys.

Honestly forget where I saw it Eddy, but I will keep looking.

Yeah Steve, things always sound louder when you first wake up.

The loudness of the thunder was a combination of factors. The main being so little rain, many of the CG's were out in open air, no insulation and dampening by heavy rain, no 1000 roofs chattering away with rain drops. I assume also the storms were relatively high based.

We've had thunder much louder than it was last night, no need for such a big fuss, again it's common

Every storm in my area carries atleast one big bang to the point it can shatter a window, last night was no exception

They were fairly high based here.

We must have had some precip after I had left for work, 1.4mm in the gauge.

Been breezy here for the past hour or so, but still relatively warm.

And thanks WR much appreciated!!

Yep definitely high based down here. I was outside when the storm was probably 15-20km to the east and there were CG's and then anvil crawlers lighting up the cloud which was clearly mid level altocumulus or similar. Maybe that's why there wasn't much rain.

Yeah Dave, a little fresh here too (for me) but beautiful. I love these westerly wind days.

The air would be much clearer over Sydney as well on these westerly days. Push all the crud out of the basin smile

I remember going to Uni (NSW) and working in the city, living in Hornsby years and years ago.

The days with the SW winds were the clearest and brightest, you could see the BM's clear as can be from a good vantage point.

If the breeze drops tonight, I reckon frost a big chance tomorrow morning out here.

Yeah clear and bright days are awesome, such nice quality and it feels so fresh and unpolluted. Not so good for driving into the late afternoon sunshine earlier though. smile

Lol.

I'm the same mate.
Even though I support Newcastle United, I'll be watching and especially enjoying the pre-match rendition of "You'll Never Walk Alone".

Norah head tracking well above average for nights and days after the warm days and very mild nights of late have been factored in.

What does YNWA mean? I've noticed it's in your sig too.

Oh, You Never Walk Alone.

It's freezing here now, I was amazed the temp is 16C. Feels way lower than that with blustery winds and low humidity.
