First cold front coming through now. Cooma Ap is at 1.4 degrees so possibly sleeting there. -3 at 850mb early in the morning so probably snow down to about 900m in the ST's and CT's if there is moisture. This is a pretty classic cool change.

Then we have a more complicated situation for Wednesday, and as a result models keep changing the timing and positioning on the cold pool and 850mb temps. Latest GFS has downgraded somewhat but I would still expect snow in interesting places.

It's stopped, no settling at all, and I'm going home now.

Clear skies in nearby Yetholme though at 1200m ASL. Very localised snow by the sounds of it obviously. Nothing showing on radar either.

Maybe you will have better luck on Wednesday, Warren.

Bloody hell it is windy here and absolutely freezing. It's not often that the wind wakes me up but it is really loud out there.

Clear, fairly calm and not particularly cold here. It looks as though there was a small amount of rain overnight. I think that's be it for the first change - a bit of a cool down, some local showers, storms out to sea, snow at the resorts (http://ski.com.au/snowcams/australia/nsw/perisherblue/perisher-bluecow.html) and a light dusting of snow at the highest places outside the Alps.

The second change for Wednesday / Thursday looks stronger, with a small low off the coast. That might be the first 'wintry' day of this season.

The models now seem to be pointing to a strong change mid-next week but disagree on the details. We'll see how it goes.

Snowed at my friends place on the outskirts of Jindy ...at 1120m asl

Wednesday looks very fluid. Will be all or nothing.

Yup the winds are here in Wollongong.

Good effort Warren smile

Just wait and see what happens now really smile

Cool breeze today, a run of a few neg temps this week overnight, -3 seems to be a common number.

Mostly sunny here today, minimal windy cloud.

That wind sure felt ICY at the bus stop this morning! Tomorrow morning will be quite a shock as we haven't had any genuinely freezing mornings here yet.

I'm not sure why but it actually feels very pleasant and not cold outside, despite the temp only being 16 degrees.

It's nice in the sun.

*plus the coldest air has moved through the coast pretty fast.

Tonight will be chilly with no wind.

I'm betting it's pretty eerie out there at that time? At least you got a buzz from the snow. Hope you had a thermos full of your favourite bevvie.

You headed back there on Wednesday?

I reckon Wollongong will see one of its coldest days for a bit come Wednesday. Cloudy, showers and a freezing SE wind .

This is classic snow on the OP and Maybe blue mountains type set up.
Cold SE stream , into a cold pool.

Just for the record
You'd think some of those showers on this chart would get up and over the high ground to the SE of the alps. Snow in Jindy, Cooma, Tindies , captains flat type setup.

Perisher pushing to open a lift . V8.
looks like they have looked at the forecast temps and lack of rain and pulled the trigger.

These dry changes are aweful. I don't get why this thread was started at this time. Save special thread for when something special happens. It's cooler today but nothing outside of day today weather for this time of year.
