Very chilly 3 degrees in Moss Vale right now, and partly cloudy. Bitterly cold breeze.

Cool (about 16) and overcast in Sydney, anticyclonic gloom. It's actually like a lot of days we get in Summer, except about 7 degrees cooler and not as windy.

There's been no rain. In fact, Sydney's been quite dry, with no rain in the past 10 days and only 0.8mm in the last 14 at OH.

Blustery wind and a few showers by the coast, mostly out to sea.

Today started off beautiful and sunny but by about midday it had clouded over here in the Hills. In fact, the sky started to look quite dark, and at 1 pm in Castle Hill at my son's football game (soccer) we had a shower that was steady and prolonged enough to send me under shelter as I was filling in team sheets as my job as team manager. I couldn't let the official paperwork get too wet!!
I was quite surprised at this shower.
We've since had another light shower at around 3 pm and it is chilly and overcast outside. We just managed to nudge a smidge over 15 degrees today, and it is currently 14.1 degs.
I would imagine that the rainfall here would be described as a "trace" in official terms. Probably 0.2 mm max.
I actually love days like today when attending kids sport. It reminds me of full winter. Rugged up in a jacket.

Currently under a heavy rain train atm. Have no idea of how much rain we have had today as I'm currently at work, at a guess probably 30-40mm, I will know the figure in just over an hours time!!

Well I'm back at home now, and to my surprise there is 74.1mm in my gauge, I will have to check that against my manual gauge but I reckon its pretty close to the mark judging by all the water lying around town.

I have had the chance to check the good old Nylex gauge and its spot on with my weather station.

Is it possible to have 14mm in one minute? or was it my weather station slow at registering all the rain, I did have a rain rate of 205mm an hour at the same time!! Thoughts??

No chance of 14mm in one minute happening today (14mm in 1 minute would be very extreme. The kind of rainrates you'd see in the heaviest of storms, whether they be associated with supercells, ECLs or TCs). The strongest showers down there are topping out at around 5kms in height, good enough for solid showers under the cores, but not for very extreme rain.
Considering it matches with your manual gauge, then I'd say it was just slow at registering it for whatever reason.

Thanks SB, thought as much. Much appreciated.

High pressure shield in full force. Nothing lasts forever. But with very warm winter temps upcoming for the SW corner of the continent it appears that nothing resembling a good front is on cards. Currently cloudy.
