Wow

Rain train indeed.

(what did the models say?)

Models only suggested 20mm I suppose, but I did note on GFS had 75mm offshore!! But with that low way out in the Tasman and the high ridging up the coast, there was a strong gradient between the two. Plus Port Stephens is so exposed to southerlies and sou'westers. Its not uncommon for us to be wet while the rest of NSW bask in sunshine.

We were walking along sea cliff bridge yesterday. Just out to sea were huge showers streaming up the coast . You really get a feeling for the elements out there.

I'd like a bit of rain.

Models are starting to ramp up this polar node /cutoff for midweek.

9.6mm since 9am from some light slow moving showers, hoping for a bit of sun before this next system arrives.

I notice there has been no rain down here so big difference to Eddy. Very foggy in the southern highlands this morning too.

Btw if anyone ever catches the XPT (we did it from Moss Vale to Wagga over the weekend), spend a little extra on first class. Economy is a bit rough and noisy.

I've only caught one train in the last 25 years that I can think of and that was at steamfest about 10 years ago!!

Starting to clear here and warm up a bit too.

I catch them a fair amount but haven't caught a non-cityrail one before this weekend. Partly cloudy here right now and cool.

Seems to have here. Low of -3.4C this morning, and a max of 8C this afternoon. Absolutely gorgeous day due to very little wind.

That's a really good tip for people who don't know.
I've only caught the XPT once - I took the family to Dubbo for a long weekend about 5 years ago. Paid the extra for first class.
During the trip (I think it was about 6 1/2 - 7 hours). I took the kids for a walk from one end of the train to the other. Mmmmmmm, let's just say I'm glad I paid the extra. For a trip that long, it would have been highly unpleasant sitting in economy. Not so much the seats or comfort, but the clientele.
And, it doesn't actually cost that much extra.

They are extraordinary figures there Eddy!! What is your YTD total? You appear to have done better than most of us. *edit* woops, just saw your totals in your sig.

And Donzah, glad to see this system is back on a bit. The BOM forecast rain totals have been steadily increasing over the past few days, as Steve mentioned. There's still time for a further upgrade. Looking forward to this afternoon's forecast.

Indeed, our trip was about 5 hours and was especially uncomfortable on the way back early this morning, not because people were noisy but the seats didn't recline much and there was lots of noise from the wheels grinding below us when we wanted sleep. Maybe it would've been the same in first class. And on the way there, the clientele wasn't ideal with annoying children and babies. My friends and I agreed that next time we will try first class, because as you say, it's really not much more.

It certainly was extraordinary that's for sure. A quick six inches to open my June account!!

They have indeed, not that I need any further rain, but one wonders how much more I could receive?

Anyway now that its cleared here some what I can see some nice towers sitting offshore atm.

It's a beautiful clear night with a three quarter Moon and Jupiter appearing close together high in the sky. It feels damp, there'll be heavy fog in the usual places tomorrow morning.

Today was mostly sunny after looking like a rerun of yesterday for a while after I got up this morning. Some interesting looking clouds gathered in the early afternoon but they soon dispersed.

After tomorrow, it looks like an extended period of mild Southerlies and showery weather, although next week's GFS looks interesting - like this week's GFS looked a week ago.

Much the same here Steve777, already a big dew has formed here and I wouldn't be surprised if we see a fog as well.

Very thick fog here in Kellyville this morning. Visibility down to about 80 metres as I look up the street from a first floor balcony.

No such luck here with a fog, mostly cloudy, no wind and 10c.

Cloud should clear to nice day hopefully.

Eddy - can't believe that rain!!! smile

Full sunshine out here all weekend - well after the big fogs cleared!!

Winter is out here as RobG said.

Yesterday was minus 5 with a very big fog. Our average min so far this month is -4.4, well below June average of +1.5.

This morning quite similar at about -4 & big fog, Saturday -3

Each day though full sunshine. Got quite hot out at Sunny Corner on Saturday getting another load of firewood, quite sweaty cutting and carrying wood. smile Only had a short sleeve shirt on. smile

Ooh as I type, a bit of sun has just broken through the fog.

Still haven't seen any sunshine yet today.

Some pics for DaveM wink
The rain was so heavy at times that it cut its own path through the sand dune!! Would have loved to see that happen.

Just some of the water still lying around this morning.

Nice pics Eddy.

Question: What is best way to get from Hornsby to the M7 without having to be on Pennant Hills Road? Or maybe that is the best way..? I might be going up in the next couple of days to pick a car up.
