Steve777, have you ever explored the grounds of the Lane Cove country club?

I was down there this afternoon wondering around and couldn't believe I hadn't stumbled across this place until now. Quite picturesque, and only a 5 min walk from my place!

The whole course is set in Gore Creek valley which looks as if it would be a major frost hollow under the right conditions.

Coastal Storm - never explored it, just driven past. It looks beautiful.

The North Shore had lots of hidden away places, especially public parks and tracks near waterways. Chatswood Golf Club stretches along the Lane Cove River bank a few kms to the North, with a public walking track by the river. There's also a small patch of bushland on the Eastern side of the railway running from near Artarmon station to Artarmon oval and the Freeway, where the track continues to Tunks Park on Middle Harbour - a 90 minute walk for me that I haven't done lately.

Saturday here was cloudy and very hazy - it was a very ordinary looking day.

It was a mild morning at around 5.5 degrees. The day struggled to warm with the cloud and haze. It was the least pleasant looking day here for ages.

Sunday was a cooler morning at about zero but best of all full sunshine. Around lunch time the breeze came up and made it a little cooler. All in all a much nicer day than Saturday.

Good frost this morning, min about -2, no fog.

CS22 - that IS a lovely looking course smile Too many trees for this hacker though smile

Well I don't recall too many days like this in winter, where its blowing a moderate breeze from the south and its 20c!!

A few showers to the north at present, but looking in a south-easterly direction its just all blue sky. No rain so far today, that's a bit of a surprise really.

Big blob of above average SST sitting off the Hunter coast at the moment which must be the culprit, EddyG. Good fuel for a beefy ECL if conditions are right!

19C in Albion Park as well. As you observe ridiculous temperature for a light southerly in June, usually need a pre frontal NW for anything much above 18-19C.

Agreed Oz & CS22

I don't pay a lot of attention to SST, I probably should do. Which sites do you look at CS22?

Have a look under 'Marine' on the landing site for Weatherzone. Here are the sea temperature anomalies:

http://www.weatherzone.com.au/climate/indicator_sst.jsp?lt=wzcountry&lc=aus&c=ssta

You can zoom in to NSW.

You can also look under 'Marine and Ocean' on the landing page of the BOM site.

----------

Fine and partly cloudy here, cool to mild. There were a few drops of rain early, but nothing that I saw during the day.

For how much wind we have seen from the southern half of the compass in June and how little therefore from the northern half, the monthly average minimums and maximums are quite impressive

Went for a stroll along the sand the other night and couldn't believe how warm the water felt, was like a warm bath (you could feel it in the air too).
The media did mention back in March that Sydney could be heading for a 'tropical winter', whatever source they got that from those people could be onto something.

WILL YOU COASTAL LOT COME AND GET YOUR CLOUD PLEASE - IT'S GOT OUT OF IT'S ENCLOSURE AND IS IN MY YARD TODAY!!! grin

A bit of lowish level stuff pushing over us from the coast, a clear edge about 20k west of me. One of those days where Orange is clear but we are cloudy - not a very common thing, maybe a dozen days a year if that many.

On these days (if it persists) we may be no warmer than Orange, that is quite rare. smile

A min of about zero this morning, currently about 5 ish, no precip in these conditions just a lack of sunshine.

Donzah - luckily out here moisture in the house is less of an issue and even if we get condensation on some colder room windows, a day of keeping the windows cracked will sort it out. Usually only an issue if the windows are kept closed too long out here. Usually when visitors are about, they shut everything, we keep our windows open.

D - yes indeed, the models are TRYING to push the changes a little further north - hope it continues.

Couple of skimmers but at least the southern areas finally getting touched by 5400 thickness occasionally now. Trend should improve over the next fortnight I imagine. Bust up some of these crazy highs or shove them northwards a bit more.

Long Term GFS hinting at something bigger way out the end of it's runs. BUT have seen that before and watched it dissipate. At least it keeps trying smile One of these will work out eventually smile

Might help you dry your house out once the westerlies kick in. smile

Yeah we need some westerlies (or even wind)... open both sides of the house and blow through.

I also have an escape artist cat. Can open windows and doors. Hmmmm

-3C this morning dead calm, thick fog looks like it might take a while to clear, feels like typical winter weather here.

It hasn't been overly warm here but I'm amazed at how warm this high is making things in the Snowies. Thredbo Top Station at 1957m ASL reached a top of 10C and Perisher Valley at 1738m hit 14C, both of which are truly screwed up for being within a few days of the shortest day of the year.

The resorts look amazingly bare, no natural snow anywhere because of the heat coupled with extremely low humidity for many days now. But if I was skiing yesterday, I would've done it in shorts n T-shirt and I am absolutely serious.

PS: Dave plenty of room here for it to go. We have completely clear skies again.
