Lol Eddy, Dave was obviously kind enough to share the sun with me!! smile And in fact nearly every day lately has been sunny at some point, often in the morning or late afternoon. Usually being further south on the coast sucks because of earlier summer southerly changes but this month it was been good to be further south in more sunshine.

Looks like Dave got the fog package, rather than frost tonight with 5.6C and 100% humidity. It's warmer than here!! Edit: Warmer than Albion Park. Here it's 7.8C

Maybe Homer, although I reckon low 90's would not be humid enough for fog. Will be very interesting to see how low it gets tonight there. In saying that, Cooma town could be completely different and have freezing fog being lower and protected compared to the Airport.

Maybe not fog yet, but possibly a developing fog with humidity that high.
Now -5.5 deg's and 90% humidity.

I agree about Cooma Town itself though. It's a real frost hollow there compared to the AP.
The official stats from Cooma from the BOM state that some records come from Cooma AP.
It's a shame there's not an AWS there.

PV's DPs not as crazy as Thredbo Top.

You have to question the accuracy of -50 dew points though.

Wow at snowmaking comment smile

BIG fog here this morning (still here too), a low of about -3. Currently still around -2.

Must be some warm air ALOFT because Orange is about +6 now after a min of around -2, lower places (Cowra/Mudgee/here) are several degrees cooler than Orange.

These sunless mornings are the coldest (as you guys know too well)

Cooma is quite unique in it's climate and weather. The difference from town to airport can be QUITE dramatic on occasions.

The models show the 850 temps for this morning at around +8 or 9, hence why Orange is warm and Mt Boyce is 7.6 near Blackheath.

Also part of the reasons why Thredbo was warm but Cooma was frozen.

Interesting. We have a tongue of 'hot' air of up to 10 degrees @850 moving over us, prior to the passage of the last remains of a cold front.

850 temps over today Sydney according to Access:
0400 9 deg
1000 7
1600 4
0400 22nd 2, after which it starts warming again

After a clear, cold night and sunny early morning, it's starting to cloud over. I don't think that's the front, just the usual stuff drifting in off the Tasman in a general Southerly flow.

The satpic shows cloud swirling into a low several hundred km East of Coffs Harbour.

I notice that subsidence inversion has lowered quite a lot, taking in the highest parts of the CT's with very low DP's.

Nullo Mtn 10.3C/-6.5 DP
Oberon at 9am, 4.5C/-7.2 DP

Then we have the Snowies of course. Cabramurra nearly up to 10C and Mt Ginini 6C, both with double digit negative dew points. Perisher will likely record its 8th day this month of 10C or more.

Meanwhile Albion Park got down to 2.1C his morning.

Still ever so slightly negative temp here -0.1 I did say slightly smile

Sun trying to find a chink in the fog armour, should get us warming a bit quicker.

Meanwhile Orange is 9 degrees - wow laugh

Currently 12.1c here with a light westerly and the overnight low was 8.1c.

5.7mm in the 24 hours to 9am, that makes it 18 wet days so far this month.

Sydney OH had it's 9th rain-free day for June in the 24 hours to 9:00 this morning, so it's rained 12/21 days. Five of the dry days occured in the first six, so we've had rain on 11/15 days. I would have thought it was more - maybe it has been on the North Shore.

It's been a cloudy month, with sunshine tracking 4.3 hours a day, still a bit better than Melbourne's June average (4.0). Taking sunny as > 75% possible sunshine, cloudy < 25%, we've had:

4/21 sunny days (>= 7.5 hours)
8/21 cloudy days (< 2.5 hours)
9/21 partly cloudy days. Five of these days had no sunshine or almost none (< 0.5 hours).

Actually, I don't think that this is so different from what would be typical in February, except for the shorter days.

Unlike the narrow strip along the east coast, inland NSW and much of the country are experiencing a very dry June. BoM maps show these areas to have had less than 20% of their monthly total with most of the month gone. No doubt this is related to persistent blocking highs / +ve AAO. We've had only 20mm for the month. Temperature-wise, warmer than normal days continue. The cold front approaching over the weekend will only see maximum temperatures reduce to around average early next week.

Great shot of the moment of solstice Eddy. I really like the sun as an 8-pointed star in that picture.

It's been fairly cloudy on the North Shore, a bit clearer now. That seems to have been fairly localised. Most of Sydney maxed around 18-19. OH had an odd spike to 19.6 just after 2:00PM making it today's local hotspot.
