This mid level inkiness is classic pre frontal

Donzah- I went to Warrawong at about 2pm today and a lot of the drive overlooks Lake Illawarra along Northcliffe Dr. The whole lake was like glass, and I have only seen it so flat early in the morning and never during the main part of the day.

There was a light SW breeze when I got back home and it gradually got stronger and westerly in the last couple hours of daylight. Right now though it's a very blustery westerly. But it's very periodic and intermittent, like 5 mins ago there was no wind heard and half hour ago it was windy.

Eddy- Yeah noticed them after 9am this morning and when you click into the stats of those stations it only comes up with 9am and 3pm times (some only 9am). On the Hunter radar there was also Lostock Dam, Singleton and Murrurundi town (not M Gap). Here I noticed Oberon and Taralga as new additions on the 128km radar.

GFS has the rain back in and in a good spot for us. This would be a very good event for regions that need it. Especially upper Hunter. My main dam still needs one more big squirt to push it over so I would like this mornings GFS run to come off. It has taken some serious rain to get things back in order this time round.....and still got the best part of a meter to go to spill the dam. Difference now is the ground is soaked and the other storages are spilling. Access has it further north. not as good.
Could get an ECL in it too.
After this.....some big cold fronts are going to start and the snow season will sort itself out.

Cold nights and mornings have been uncommon this year in coastal areas, especially in 'cold hollows'. I think that has been because of a preponderance cloud and maritime air.

This morning seems to have been the coldest in a few weeks, but May 30 looks to have been the coldest so far, e.g. Camden, Richmond, OH.

Car thermometer report: last night I drove back home from Belmont, leaving about 11:45PM. It was 11 at Swansea, quickly dropping as I went inland to 5-6 degrees with fog patches on the M1/F3 North of Wyong. It was 7-8 on the higher parts of the F3 South of Wyong, 8-9 on the North Shore and 9 when I got home about 1:15AM. OH at that time was on 10, Lake Macquarie was 5 at Midnight.

Yep, coldest morning of the year in Albion Park with just 1.8C. Min here was 3.1C. Bellambi and Kiama right on the beach were only 8C.

Then -5 at Braidwood, -6 at Tuggeranong (coldest morning since July 3, 2015) and -7 at Cooma Ap. Even -7 at TTS. Do you know what your friend outside Jindy got?

Interesting. A very short sharp shower through Cooks Gap at 4.15 this morning yielded us 0.75mm. Just enough to wet the ground

It is a beautiful day in my part of the world. Absolutely magnificent. Feels warmish for 18C and low humidity.

Just saw the forecast. The rain event forecast yesterday for late this week has been cancelled, or at least wound back to 'a shower or two' on a couple of days.

Hit a pleasant 18C here today, while the South Coast only reached a cold 14-15C.

I reckon there's potential for a cold night but it'll be too windy.

I think there will be quite a few negatives about in the morning.

What an absolutely stunning weekend it was, 20c both days, a bit breezy on Saturday and relatively calm today.

I couldn't agree more about the stunning weekend weather.
I had soccer on both days for young Bart and netball for Lisa. Conditions couldn't have been more perfect on both days.
There is nothing better than watching your (our) own kids enjoy playing their sport on weekends like this.
It's impressive how quickly it has become cold tonight.
Currently 7.6 degrees here. I haven't had enough time this arvo to light the fire so the air-con is running......but probably only for an hour or so, just to take the chill out of the house. Then, I'll be under the doona. smile

Wow at rain Max - nothing around here.

I had a quick trip to North Entrance Saturday to see the M.I.L. who is not getting around so well at the moment.

It was nice and warm for me, cool night but only 2 blankets required overnight.

Breeze made it feel cooler yesterday but still shorts weather for me.

Sunny at least, we got windows in her house opened to air it out, gets a bit musty only about 150m from the beach. She can't open the windows much though so we do it every time we get up there, otherwise it would be mould city.
