3.9 here atm.

Interesting that there was snow falling at South Perisher about 45 mins ago according to a poster and currently looks like it's coming down very lightly. That snow earlier would've fell in -7C!! That's impressive.

Cooma Ap now down to -6.3. Orange Ap -5.0 and Goulburn -4.9. Bega a flat zero.

It's a chilly morning, close to forecast but not as cold as I thought it might be. I think that this is owing to a combination of:

* Wind, e.g. there's a 'howling' 10 knot Westerly at OH, where it's 8 but feels like 3.
* High humidity - it must be foggy in the usual frost hollows, e.g. Camden dipped to 1.1, 99% humidity
* Coastal cloud at times overnight

One thing about June in coastal Sydney has been the small range in temperatures. At OH, all minima have all been in the range 8-13 rounded, maxima in 15-20 rounded, all but one in the range 17-20. There are no forecast values outside these ranges before the end of the month. Unusually for recent years, it looks unlikely to reach 21 during the month. Also, less unusually, it looks unlikely to drop below 7.

So, we've had a mixture of benign cool, cloudy days and benign cool, sunny days. We had a lot of rain from the 7th-11th but only 10mm since.

Boring? Maybe, but boring weather can be very pleasant:

3.7c was my overnight low.

Nice sunny morning so far, but i don't think it will be long to the cloud arrives.

It's cloudy here with high cloud and the temp is struggling as a result. Only 13C at 9:30am which is cold for that time of morning in this area because we don't get fogs.

Eddy - that star shot is stunning!!

Airport here -4.4, town reading is showing as -5 solid frost. Light breeze much of the night probably kept us warmer than it might have otherwise been. I went out a few times last night and could feel a breeze each time.

High cloud cover now but we have made it to zero smile

I do actually love our sunny winter days out here, they are truly some of the nicest days of the year. smile Cool start but a lovely sunny day with lovely fresh air. No cloud makes it feel nicer in the sun smile Brilliant days.

Steve777 - I reckon you'd enjoy a few days out here this time of year. smile

Still only 3 degrees here, cloud cover has kept the chill in and sun out.

A fresh one for sure smile At least it feels like winter smile

15 degrees here, nice morning with a little light westerly blowing, some spectacular high cloud drifting in too and not to mention some nice structure sitting offshore as well.

This morning at -5.3 was the coldest min for the year so far and I think colder than any night last year. Last year was about -4.3 I think, last June.

Just went over to town and preparations for the winter festival well underway.

Skating rink, Ferris wheel and big old fashioned merry go round all being put together in Russell St.

Starts this weekend - should be fun. smile

That's a pretty solid effort Dave. Bathurst seems to have had some pretty decent cold winter mornings. Yeah I don't recall any -5's last winter, seemed to get stuck at -2 or -3.

This cloudy weather is so amazing. How nice is it to just look at a lovely grey sky all day, looks so beautiful.

yeah its crap for solar. Not a fan of thick jetstreamcloud /chemtrail combos.

Good frost in the hollows around here this morning. Pretty cold for not being in the wake of a cold front. Very unusual winter here so far. Quite cold and still.

The winter festival runs over a fortnight. The 2 weekends have lots of entertainment (outdoors) with lots of food, drinks etc going on. The Saturday nights are a lot of fun.

Ice skating, ferris wheel etc go every day and evening, they are flat out the whole time.

There are lighting displays (a mini vivid sort of thing) for the 2 weeks.

Thousands of people come out though on the Saturday nights. The colder the better smile

Lol glad you got my sarcasm. I don't like them either.

Hasn't been as unusual here in terms of cold because we generally don't get stuck under inversions etc that you would up there. But definitely been weirdly calm. We have had no really strong westerlies yet either.

I wont mind this cloud cover if a gap opens up on the horizon at about 4.45pm, then it will be worth it!! grin

The cloud closed in around mid morning here. It's been a grey, still, chilly day on the North Shore. There were a few gaps in the cloud and one or two short sunny breaks. Sydney Airport, which spiked to 17.5 around noon, must have been under a bigger gap.

OH peaked at only 14.8, the coldest day so far this year (punched a bit of a hole in my post of this morning). It's still on 14.4 and won't cool down much if it stays overcast. It might get warmer before 9:00 tomorrow, especially if the wind turns onshore.
