When traveling back into the country, duty free allowance on cigarettes are 50 stick p/person. If I was to buy cigarettes in the U.S and pay tax there e.g walmart, not duty free, am I able bring more than 50 sticks home. Would obviously be in luggage not carry on.

Short answer no. If you pack any in your luggage and they find them they charge you lots of money.

Our government believes everyone is rich and taxing double is quite reasonable. I wonder how they will react when other countries start doing the same and making our products unreasonable for travellers.
