As much as I despise winter and the lack of cold fronts lately being a nice change, I still kind of miss them as they made the weather interesting at least. poke

We managed to get a 9mm downpour last night around midnight. 9mm by the AWS yet to check my gauge but there was a hell of a lot of water around the town this morning. My kids said we even had thunder and lightning and I slept right through it...

Just under 5mm rain here over past 5 days.

A cold dry winter.

Thanks for the thread dooga' grin

Apart from wind Petros, the minimal breeze out our way for the last 3 months has been gratifying to say the least.

Nothing worse than a windy day to close down enthusiasm for outdoor activity !

Staying dry here, recent frosts have really affected the ground cover, hay coming onto farms already as farmers try to conserve their own farm produced hay for later in the season.

Rain closer to Spring will get things going after so much inactivity re grass growth.....well that's the hope with the mini Dorper mob lambing late August ->.

Reached a top of only 12.5C here in Belgrave today so far - it's been about a week since we've had a high of below 15C. The first 7 days of July 2017 have been noticeably mild, relatively speaking that is lol! smile

It's not very windy, but still cold and damp. Most of the day it's been overcast, although we had a few glimpses of sunshine around midday. Over the last hour it got very dark and gloomy, and then we had surprisingly heavy showers roll in around 1:30pm. The rain stopped after about 20 minutes, and we've collected 1mm. smile

The sky has lightened up a fair bit, but looks like it's going to be a wet afternoon and evening.

Been a bit of an interesting afternoon since my last post. I had to drive out to Melbourne Airport to drop some family members off - they're on their way to Ireland atm. I left home around 2:30pm and returned around 6pm.

Showers resumed almost immediately after leaving Belgrave and lasted as far as the Monash Freeway (around 3pm). Aside from a few light spits of rain, the rest of the way was dry but it stayed mostly cloudy as far as the City, with clearing skies and a gradual but brief return to sunshine as we entered the West Gate Freeway from the Domain Tunnel. We reached Tullamarine around 3:30pm.

The sunshine lasted until around 5pm as I returned home, before a thickening veil of high cloud arrived from Western Victoria and South Australia, making it overcast and quite dark once more, but not before casting a rather eerie yellowish hue over Melbourne Airport. And to the east a bright full moon was visible over metropolitan Melbourne. smile

Temperatures were generally around 12C, dropping to around 9C by the time I arrived back home.

Interestingly the roads in Melbourne's northwest were mostly dry, so obviously the bulk of the rain so far today was in the southeast where I reside! And we've collected another 1.1mm since 2:30pm, so 2.1mm in total. smile

More showers coming into Melbourne on the radar right now, although they're quite patchy.

Currently around 8C.

Overnight low of 6.6C, currently around 8C, breezy and partly cloudy.

We had some more heavy rain overnight, starting around 1:30am. Collected an additional 3.2mm, so 5.3mm in total for the previous 24 hours, nice! smile

I found 0.5mm in my gauge today (5.25mm in past 9 days), a calm sunny morning gave way to an overcast cool breezy Westerly arvo here.

Reached a top of only 12.7C here in Belgrave today, mostly cloudy with a chill wind. Only a few occasional light spitting showers, but also only a few glimpses of sun as well, mainly at sunset. poke

Currently around 9C.

The weather has been frustratingly boring lately! Nice to have a bit of wind for once; I especially love listening to it at night, just don't like being out in it lol. But overall, I'm growing impatient, really need some action! frown

The latest 7-10 day predictions from ACCESS and GFS had better be right; hopefully the stubborn highs will back off to the north in coming days and the first potentially major winter storms will FINALLY come slamming head-on in Southeastern Australia by the end of this coming week and next week! =D

Not as windy as predicted by BOM for Gippy, recorded a trace of rain from a couple of late morning showers, expecting a couple more later this evening.

Calm now, hope we avoid a frost (sick of them).

Overnight low of 7.5C, reached a top of 16.3C here in Belgrave today.

Mostly cloudy but with sunny breaks. I was at work in Box Hill; it got very dark, gloomy, blustery and stormy-looking as the cold front approached around 2pm, with showers developing across Melbourne, but no thunderstorms.

The showers have been persisting throughout much of the evening, and they've been quite heavy at times. Collected 7.3mm of rain so far, a rather unexpected surprise as I was only predicting 1-2mm at best! smile

Currently around 9C.

16c here today. Breeze abated during arvo, so frost looming.
