Grey and grey in Jindy.

Was a windy mild morning . 7 degrees at 9am. Ye gods.
Few mizzly showers rolled over from lunchtime on a stiff cold wind. Nothing exciting though. Even sleeted a bit.

Just did a temp check and here it is 14.9 but Albion Park 17.3!!!! Gosh that's warm for this time of the night, can't say I'm complaining. It's a rather brisk northerly and warm. Weird feeling in July.

Another clear day after a cloudy, warm and windy night. Min was 12.6 here, and that is our first night this month in double digits and our first night above 6 or 7C.

My minimum probably occurred at 9am too actually but I wouldn't know as I reset the thermometer at about 9pm last night.

It's considerably cloudy here now with low to mid level cloud but surprisingly the air is still very dry. There's not a breath of wind.

The calm before the storm perhaps, although this cold front will be nothing special.

I'm actually surprised it got to 16.9c today considering there was no sunshine, not until sunset anyway.

Fantastic photo Eddy.

Btw here I thought the sun felt particularly hot today. I was driving in the car and it was blazing hot when I'd have the windows up. And then windows down was too cold poke

I'm not a wine person, maybe that will come with age. Beer and cider for me, sometimes a bit (tiny tiny bit) of absinthe to spice it up.

10mm has fallen with stationary coastal showers down in Moruya which is interesting.

Wine is mighty fine stuff. In moderation of course. As I believe all boozing should be.
Icy down Canberra way.
The low in the bight is really trying to barge the persistant high over SE aside. Surely one has to get through.

At the halfway point of the month, Sydney is tracking below average for minima, significantly below away from the coast*, but a little above average for maxima.
Code:
Sydney OH 7.9 - 18.3 (-0.8 - +0.9)
Bankstown 2.9 - 18.0 (-2.6 - +0.9)
Richmond 1.4 - 17.8 (-2.3 - +0.3)

Averages 1981-2010 (est. 1981-2016 for Richmond combining old & new sites).

It's been dry, Bankstown and Richmond have had under a millimeter in July so far, OH and coastal staions around 10-20mm (12.6 at OH, about 15% of 1981-2010 average for July).

It looks set to warm up this following week. Maybe the period since about June 25 when the run of cold nights started has been 'peak Winter' this year.

* or maybe that should be at places affected by inversions on clear nights

And it's going to be another cold one tonight.
Already 9.7. Completely still with no wind. Increasing cirrus might put a slight lid on things later though.

Got to 15.7 degs here today.

Yes it's a cold night alright, down to 5C again it looks like.
Looking forward to a 20C day though, and even a 22C on Wed, before back to the 17C ho-hum weather.
Anyway, a nice glass to 1/2 bottle of Merlot tonight and settle down for the tennis, and should be ay ok for tomorrow.

Could possibly be the last throw of the dice mid week for a front to reach here, although it looks like that might not happen as the low slips south east. Warmish end to the month tipped. Warm today and tomorrow. I reckon we could see a 30 around the 20th of August.
Seasonal lag all done now.

A very short peak winter this year alas.
