That sounds like some proper rain there Dan - excellent smile

The Ben is usually a late starter for the season. Tough position in the state. Shame it wasn't further west smile

Afternoon all, good to see there is some much needed rain and snow on the way! grin

Min overnight was -5.9C at 4.15am, then it slowly crept up to about -4C as the cloud cover rolled in, not much of a breeze about yet, give it a couple hours though and will have a nice fresh Northerly. smile

Yeah very true about the wind chill DaveM! I still hate -5C even if there is no breeze, anything above 0C is nice lol grin

Currently down at Hounville on a roof, solid amount of high/pre frontal cloud streaming in from the Northwest. Currently 9.1C with a light breeze at home.

Nice Obs BB.
Love the forecasts Snowies.
Thinking my tanks are going to dry up again before we get any decent rain here in the South East!

Hi all,

Had 23mm since late last night, still raining lightly on and off. Maybe a little more in it before it clears. Sitting on 7 degrees and was 8 most of last night, so possibly snow above 1200 or 1300m overnight. Liawenee on 1 degree - but recorded rain throughout the night so was probably too warm to be snow at that level.

Looks like a reasonable amount of snow fell at Ben Lomond looking at the snow cams on Ski.com.

Tows ran at Ben Lomond with a foot of fresh snow, probably similar again Monday - could be the best snow in Aus soon...

Listening to the intermittent downpours as showers cross the coast. Had 10mm yesterday and overnight, probably another 5-10mm in it today before the winds turn to the south.

Hi all

Pretty much par for the course over here in the West. Cold, wet and windy.
Think I might sit here and get my rainfall figures up to date. About 4 months worth crazy

Want some of mine SF? I cant use my water fast enough. Tank has been overflowing with every decent squall that comes through. I have another tank on the way in an effort to make the most of the winter rains. Shouldn't take long to fill it with the way things have been here lately.

Never ceases to amaze me that difference between the West coast and the SE - may as well be on the other side of the world - much less the state. smile

SE desperately in need of a low off the SE of the state spinning up some rain.

Looks like some showers trying to blow in from the SE tonight.

Finished with 20.3mm from this one, 10.4mm to 9am and 9.1mm after. Now just over 60mm for the month to date, nearly 350mm YTD.

Been showering on and off the last few hours.
Sometimes it gets heavy (ish)

Love the sound of rain, especially as we have so little of it for quite awhile now.

You had a little sook and then it rained, looks like most of the SE got 10-20mm last night, guess you were at the upper end of that. and of course a decent drop just days after buying water...

grin - now Dan - don't pick on your little mate until he picks his bottom lip up from the floor grin

Actually, I understand living on tanks very much - we did it up near Wee Waa (way out in the hot parts of NSW) and it's no fun trying to balance the water issues. And yes it often rains a day or 2 after buying water frown

The flow of the precip this morning looks QUITE southerly down there vs the usual SW or W.

Hi all

Finally caught up with my rainfall totals for the year up to the 30th June.

Jan Feb Mar Apr May June YTD 19/7
37 157 117 262 598 369 1540 1720 2016
151 178 101 131 253 250 1064 1237 2017

With the exception of January and February, this year has been considerably drier.

There have been fewer frosts this year and temperatures have been quite mild compared to previous years. The lowest temperature I have ever recorded here was -7. Compared to some of the minimums recorded around the state so far this year, my minimum of -3.5 is hardly worth mentioning.

Snow falls here on the West Coast have been pretty normal in frequency and depth on the mountains nearby. Certainly nothing to get excited about yet. Had a couple of flakes one day in the last week or so, not enough to cover the ground.

Hoping for a few flakes overnight and into tomorrow morning. smile

Hmmm, that table didnt work out so well, tried to edit it...you get the idea though I hope. smile
