Great GIF Morham, thanks for sharing.

******

I thought the BOM overcooked last night's cold. It was pretty cool this morning, coldest so far this year at some inland sites, but nothing special.

Coldest so far this year across Sydney:

Code:
Camden -2.3 22/7
Campbelltown -1.2 7/7
Richmond -2.1 22/7
Parramatta 1.8 3/7*
Bankstown 0.2 8/7
Sydeny Ol Pk 2.5 10/7
Sydney OH 5.4 2/7

* Don't know this morning's reading yet. May 30 at 2.0 was almost as cold.

Penrith AWS is to the north of the white water stadium and east of the lake. Wonder if that water in vicinity shields it a bit.

Penrith never gets as cold minimums as Camden and Richmond. For Penrith to get -4C, the other two would have to be at least -7C.

0.5 here for a min and 0.3 at Albion Park. Only a very light frost so air must've been a bit too dry.

For those who aren't familiar with using bom aws coordinates in google maps this is how you do it.
You select your desired AWS at bom observations site. You will see the lat and longnitude listed. . e.g Penrith -33.72 . Longitude 150.68

So all up for Penrith aws you type
-33.72 150.68 into google maps search box. Have satellite function selected

-6 out here at Lithgow this morning. I'm sure there are many places lower than here.

Lol Forget what I just posted. The pin is doesnt show the exact location of the aws. In the case of Obs Hill the pin is in the drink just near the o seas passenger terminal. The obs hill site is off to the south west ringed by roads. I guess maps hasnt the accuracy to do exact locations based on precise co ordinates. Cut a long story short. The penrith aws is down there somwhere near penrith lakes but google maps dont show exact location

If you look at the statistics page for a site, you will see a link 'site info'. On that page you may find a basic site summary, for example Penrith: Penrith AWS Site Summary

Among other things, that gives the coordinates of the site to 4 decimal places of a degree, so pinpointing it to within a little over 10 metres, assuning that it is actually that accurate.

For example, Penrith (-33.7195, 150.6783):

Fantastic Sreve. You da man.
I realised it was not google map prob but a failure to put the coordinates in with more decimal places.

I have no 'site info' button using chrome mobile. Is it a subscription thing to get that data Steve?

It's still 12C at Sydney Obs Hill and it's nearly midday. There would be no fog so why is it so cold? Meanwhile here it is 17C with -2 dew point and as a result it is one of the clearest days I have ever seen here. Dew point is a rounded -10 at Moss Vale- that's the lowest I've ever seen it there by a long shot.

It was -10.4 here in Berridale this morning at 6.53. This was the second coldest temperature I have recorded in 8 years living here. The coldest was -11.7 on 1st July, 2011.

I can't believe how beautiful a day it is today. I just had to go to the beach and there are literally hundreds of people walking, riding etc near the harbour. All the carparks were full so I've had to go further north out of the city. Can't believe it's winter and we're getting weather like this. Gosh I feel so blessed to live in such a beautiful part of the world. Dry air makes me feel so fresh, rejuvenated and alive!! Some people hate it because of dry lips and stuff but I love it. Humidity in the teens earlier which is almost unheard of here in such low temps.

I'm looking north up the coast and can see all the way up to the Sydney coast with almost complete clarity, that's how clear the air is today. But at the bottom of the mountains all the way up I can see a layer of sea spray from the big surf. It's fantastic. Ohhh and barrelling waves with the westerly blowing the spray back.

It's days like this that keep my spirits up and keep me sane.

There were some -4's in the Hunter today, Cessnock, Singleton and Scone.
Depending on the roundings, this could be the coldest July or even winter morning in Singleton, although there are only 14 years of records there. (record lows of -3.7C in July an -4.0C in August).
No records in Cessnock or Scone though.
As stated previously it was nowhere near that cold at home, and no frost to speak of even with 2C given.
Or if there was, I blinked and missed it.
Looking forward to some 20C+ days coming on now, and upgraded to 23C for Wed 26th July now.

5.8C at 8:30 pm,, already almost down to our projected minimum for tonight of 5C.
Certainly very cold for this time of the evening, and an almost frigid day at times today.

Same here Derek.
Now just 5.5 degs and I've just watched it drop 0.2 of a degree in the past 3 minutes.
It's not forecast to be colder than last night, but we are certainly lower than last night at this time.
And yes, today was certainly chilly, particularly at my son's football kick off time at 11.30, when it was still only 12 degrees.
