Hey WR, just want to say I loved your post earlier about what a beautiful day it was and how lucky you are to live in such a beautiful part of the country. I couldn't agree more. I also feel the same.
Marge has been working in Jakarta in Indonesia this week and couldn't wait to get back. Couldn't even see clear sun because of the smoggy haze. The heat was putrid.
She was only gone a week and felt so much relief to be back.
And she is no travel snob. She's seen many parts of the world. Both good and bad.

Yep, we truly are so lucky. Heck, some cities don't even get to see blue sky. Look at Beijing, Macau etc etc, even LA to an extent. The sky is just a faded greyish blue colour or just grey but with no clouds. But yet there's so many here that take the beauty we have here for granted.

Yes a good temp for Dave out Bathurst way. The diurnal swings are going to be impressive today and next few days in plenty of places. Not as great as on Mercury, which swings from -180C at night to over 400C during peak daylight. Wow.

Already 4 degrees warmer at Norah than same time yesterday. Opticast which forecast 22 for this area today is shooting for 20 today. Opti has also downgraded temps a little for Mon to Wednesday. Maybe perceiving a little change in high positioning allowing for a little bit of west spice to the wind.

Swell is still great. Plenty of rubber around. I had a look from Soldiers Beach lookout early morning. A few whales blowing.
Fresh and clear

We could only manage 3.1c. I got up around 6am to go for a frost hunt, but it was about 3.8c at that stage, a sneaky westerly breeze was the culprit this morning.

Same here Derek.
Now just 5.5 degs and I've just watched it drop 0.2 of a degree in the past 3 minutes.
It's not forecast to be colder than last night, but we are certainly lower than last night at this time.
And yes, today was certainly chilly, particularly at my son's football kick off time at 11.30, when it was still only 12 degrees.

Yes, 24 hour graph from yesterday showed a very slow warm up, and a late maximum for a winter's day, even if a respectable 18C.
Today is warming up quicker, now 17C and heading to 20C.
Overnight minimum last night was 4C at 10pm.

It was incredibly windy here early this morning. It woke me up, which doesn't happen very often. Today it's another dry and breezy day.

PS: The -7.7 that Bathurst got yesterday morning was actually a new record for that site.

Yep 21 here too with humidity in the 20s. There's a bit of dry mid level cloud to the south now as well.

See another rock fishing death down south. Tragic for loved ones. Waves are not gigantic with this swell but they are very powerful. I nearly drowned in a similar kind of swell in 2001. Last time I ever surfed. Sounds wussy I know.

Yeah good weather and big waves aren't a good combo because people take the risk because it's such a nice day.

Checked out the beach again and it's even bigger than yesterday. The road along the foreshore was packed. Apparently everyone in Wollongong loves to admire some chunky waves.

Way out west pretty warm. Been nothing to flush any daytime heat buildup away. Low humidity doing wonders for my dry eye /sarc

A beautiful day today. It feautured one of the coldest mornings of the Winter so far (the coldest at some locations, e.g Olympic Park, Richmond) and one of the warmest afternoons.

Anyone else notice the big range of temperatures across Sydney this morning? At 8:00AM it varied from 0 at Camden to 14 at Bellambi.

It's continuing a very sunny month, with 17 of 22 days being virtually cloudless, with 9+ hours sun out if a possible 10. Today probably makes 18. One day was overcast (but still 0.5 hours' sun) and the other three were partly cloudy (25% to 75% sunshine).

So far this month only 0.6mm of rain has fallen at Maitland Airport, this is something that may have gone unnoticed.
With no long term records at Maitland Airport, there was only 1 month at the old Maitland Visitors station (19 years of records) with less rain, and the driest July since July 1970 where 0.0mm of rain was recorded at Tocal and Cessnock. (August 1995 also had 0.0 rain for that month).

Very warm night with 17C currently. Blustery as once again, I think it's the temp gradient down the mountain that causes our big winds as well because there's no cold front. But dry and warm airmass descending down the escarpment.

Some hippies on the island gettin high he he he.
Nah. I was referring to a blob of high pushing a low south east at that latitude. I see no break in this pattern at all. The lows that do get up a bit are not low enough in pressure to punch on thru NSW.

More mild of a night and early morning.
Ridiculous temps forecast for next weekend. Probably record warmth. Could get a pair of 25 at Obs. Insane. Prob only one dat below 20 all this week.

Oh yeah, the high's.

Looks like the penetrating cold fronts will be kept at bay again by high pressure dominance.

Damn global warming!!

Howdy all.

Yep like many places - a pretty fresh morning on Saturday as mentioned by others. We still don't know what the "official" Bathurst min for Saturday will be. Hopefully colder at around -8 or so.

Heard plenty of anecdotal comments about -9 and -10 around the area, one person even told me -12 somewhere nearby but I'd be prob a bit sceptical about that.

I do think a -10 would be possible in some of the little frost hollows around here though.

Yesterday's min of about -7 was a "surprise" given the forecast was only about -2 or so smile

2 quite fresh mornings like that in a row is pretty special!! smile

Of course the days were lovely.

Went out to Sunny Corner hunting firewood yesterday, up around 1130m elevation and it was stunning out there with full sun and wonderful views through the trees from our high point. Even got a bit sunburned smile

I'm never happier than when I'm out in the scrub - that's my happy place smile

Scary thing in the forecast is a 19 for us this Saturday - that is VERY warm for us in July.

Not confident of any "decent" snowy changes now, this season may be VERY light on for snow in this area this winter. frown
