Overnight low of 9.8C, reached a rather mild top of 17.7C here in Belgrave today. Very windy with howling northerly gales for the majority of the day, with the first strong gusts arriving around 12:30am last night. Pity my wind vane has been out of action since last spring! frown

We briefly lost power at least three times today, once earlier this morning and the other two times within about 1 minute of each other around 2.5 hours ago.

It's been mostly sunny up until around 2:30pm, and now it's getting cloudy. Currently around 16C.

After a calm morning, the strong NW'lies arrived with a vengeance making golf difficult amongst blowing leaves.

It got to 22.4C this arvo, calmed off later, now calm balmy 19.5C here, baro down to 1003 hPa.

Any chance of a storm with the change tonight???

Feels almost like the kind of weather we get at night following a warm, windy day in September ahead of a cold front! Since sunset it's been hovering around 16C here in Belgrave; the wind makes it feel a couple of degrees cooler though! crazy eek

The winds have eased off a bit now, but still quite blustery. Also still mostly cloudy (but we've had glimpses of blue sky and sunshine this arvo, and I've been able to see the stars at times this evening) with light rain; most of the showers are being shredded by the wind, as is often the case during these sorts of weather events. It usually takes a vigorous convective setup (such as a severe thunderstorm outbreak, including supercells, squall lines, etc) for us to receive heavy rainfall in conjunction with such high northerly winds.

The fact that the Laverton radar is out of action and we're relying on the Melbourne Airport radar isn't helping either. Too hard to tell if the frontal band survived beyond the Southwest Coast (and neighbouring Southeast SA) and will bring any useful rain to Melbourne overnight. frown

I wanted to further amend my above post but ran out of time. Oh well. poke

Anyway...

Were it not for the incoming cold front, I'd expect tonight would end up being my hottest July night ever. The current record is 14.5C on July 22nd 2016.

Depending on the front's arrival time that record may be beaten, but we'll see... smile

19.5C here at 2320hrs, the wind still in the N/E and roaring o/s, see 69kph at Mt Moornapa earlier, don't doubt that at all.

Have white cloud on radar 8km to the N/W, rain ?

0.5mm from overnight showers, and cooled us back to below 12C at some stage last night.

Mild 18C with blustery westerly here.

17.9 was the high for Melbourne. EC never had it higher than 17 to 18 range and was pretty much spot on. Here at my house the high was 11.7c at 1115pm last night hasn't made it back to 11 today yet.
0.6mm of rain yesterday evening which has produced red muddy spots on the gauges.

Edit: Up to 11.8c when I wasn't looking

Showers this arvo added another 0.5mm to the 0.5mm we got in last nights showers.

Another mild day, it got to 20.6C under some of the sunny periods despite the persistent westerly. Working outside, it was one of those T shirt/Jumper/Raincoat afternoons.

3 months in a row at < 20mm/month for N Gippy.

We've been able to burn out old stumps here at Royal Maffra for several weeks now.

Overnight low of 11.1C (my warmest night for July 2017), reached a high of 16.3C here in Belgrave today.

In general, it was a partly cloudy day with lengthy sunny breaks. Also a few spits of rain; it looked unstable, convective and stormy at times but the only heavy showers and thunderstorms I saw today were over toward Healesville during the late afternoon.

Otherwise, in spite of the wind and the clouds it was quite a mild day! Less blustery than Saturday thankfully. Perfect for being down in Dandenong and later in Narre Warren North. smile

Currently around 6C.

Good rain over S NSW today, some of the (NW'ly originated) cloud sagged down into N Gippy this morning providing an unexpected 0.75mm from showers. Cells midday seemed very close to becoming storms.

I'm sure I'm not the only one feeling that the season has turned back to typical winter weather over the past week or so?

Overnight low of 6.1C, reached a top of 17.6C here in Belgrave today. A gloriously mostly sunny last day of July 2017, such a shame I was stuck indoors at work in Box Hill for much of the time. smile

Kinda hazy earlier today. I noticed a huge veil of high cloud off to the northeast this morning on my way to work, thanks to the ECL now off the NSW coastline. Otherwise plenty of bubbly convection about the north, south and east from late-morning through to late-afternoon with showers and maybe the odd thunderstorm. smile

A nippy night coming up, currently around 5C. Looking forward to my favourite month of winter, AUGUST!!! =D
