Yes, you hit the nail on the head.
A real fizzer on the bay today.

Yeah I feel for you Derek, nothing worse when the forecast promises so much and you pack the family up and take that drive only to be highly disappointed. TBH it never ever really got close here.

Anyway I'm always happy to give you a "what its like here update" on your next trip to the Bay!!

Didn't get above 22 in Newcastle today. Just as I thought.

Of the long-term NSW stations I track, six have set July records (Bourke, Walgett, Sydney, Richmond, Nowra, Point Perpendicular) - sometimes this involves merging data from multiple sites. I suspect that Bathurst Ag will join them when the numbers come in in the morning (their record is 20.5 and the airport got to 21.0).

I doubt if the NSW record (31.7) was broken, but Mungindi and Brewarrina will still be worth a look when they report.

Incidentally, Brewon is a new AWS (has only been going for a couple of months) - part of a joint project with NSW DPI to improve network coverage in western NSW. The new sites are targeted at filling holes in the network so won't necessarily be close to places that most people will have heard of.

Well I'm back home now and I've checked my WS and my top temp was 20.9c

Just a stock standard winters day.

Might as well have a summer like night as well. I still don't think anyone has a real clue why fronts are not impacting NSW. Yes I know all this Sam, enso, iod mumbo jumbo gets bandied about. But is there something else. That is keeping this prolonged pattern in place.

There's a chance of some high minimums at the reset. Obs Hill will be somewhere around 15.6C (we had a 16.5C min last July though so not that unusual I guess)

For all of those bemoaning the lack of warm temps, made it to 28c in Penrith yesterday. Smashed the old record by 1.3c.

... But the minimum was achieved yesterday at around 9am so no record for Newcastle unfortunately lol. Came in at around 14c.

Things definitely fell into place yesterday for Sydney area! Models backed off on cloud and upped the airmass temperature and that was it! Record not broken by a huge amount, but yeah another record falls. Soon, all max temp records will post 2000!

July average max record shouldn't be broken given the forecast max today smile

Saturday here started VERY fresh at -6 (thereabouts) - nothing official yet.

It wobbled it's way to around 17.

Sunday morning was about 4 or 5.

During Sunday the breeze actually made it feel cooler than anticipated. However it did indeed (as Blair said) get above 21 at the airport.

Still waiting for the Ag Station number. It will be very close to or will exceed the long standing record of 20.5.

Last night was very mild indeed - sweated under the doonah!!

Bathurst Ag came in at 20.1, so no record there.

Highest in NSW was 30.2 at Brewarrina.

Bit surprised really at that temp reading. The Ag Station almost always reads higher than the airport for max temps.

Still, maybe something else at play.
