No wind out here either - very still in fact.

Mild morning of about 4 and we had a light shower which hardly measured.

Hopeful of a small fall of rain on Sunday/Monday.

Wind has turned WSW and it has cooled from a max of 12.7 at the airport to about 11 now - the windchill is quite fresh.

This is insanity. Kempsey over 25 at Midday in July
Frightening dryness and heat ahead.
Looked liked wind whipped a bit more west at Glendale but it feels more nor west again. Could hit 24 here.
Nothing more to be said. This is fricking horrendous. Records could fall today in some places. Let alone on Friday Saturday or Sunday.

You guys on the coast will exit "winter" pretty quickly in August, usually you feel the warm up well before us out here.

The heat lovers can start getting excited soon grin

You got that right!!! grin

Wind strongish at times, strong enough to knock over the odd empty wheelie bin.

Oh and pleasant and balmy 23c. smile

4.5mm here to 9am. The highest daily total for quite a while. Mainly overcast with a very lazy WSW wind. Currently 7C. Prospect of a reasonable drop of rain next Monday is still on.

I call down a cool, wet Summer upon the heads of the heat gloaters. Either that, or they are forced to work in the heat they so relish.

grin

Just checked the SST anomaly map, getting warm out on the water too. Lots of fuel for any upcoming ECLs, tipping one for late Aug.

Lol the heat vs cold lovers argument. It'll never end.

Anyhow, it has been crazy windy here this morning. A drive to Castle Hill earlier saw much leaf litter and downed branches along Gilbert Rd in Glenhaven. Temp has reached 18.6 degrees currently.
Trees were swaying wildly. Easily up to 60 km/h gusts and I reckon I'm being conservative.
I see there's been no controlled burning today. I wonder why? smile
It may have ended up uncontrolled burning.

I have frankly given up on any correlation between ECL's and Tasman Sea ocean temperatures.

Just my theory....

The important factor is cut off cold pools over NSW.

Have you just placed a curse upon the coming Summer? Are you to blame for 2011/12? And the Summers of 94/95, 95/96 and 96/97?

At least an attempted curse smile

Rob - I also just spoke to a couple from Mozart - they had a bit over 5mm as well. Positively drowning on the Oberon Plateau grin

We MUST be due (out here) for a wetter cooler period. Been bugger all daggy weather out here for a long time shocked

Outside at the moment - the wind is reasonable strong and quite cool smile

The coolness would be far more obvious out Porters Retreat way grin

Blowing a gale pretty much all day at Blackheath, gusts up to 70km/h with an average of 52km/h.

Had some light drizzle earlier, 1mm?

Despite the strong winds they have decided to go ahead with todays hazard reduction.

Smoke on the water!!

Only the 2011/12 he he he. Was my first summer on the central coast, the first time around when I lived here. And weren't cafes etc complaining about. Rightly so I guess. If memory serves me well that summer contained Sydneys last below average month. Could be wrong.

Yeah that would have been December 2011. The worst summer month in living memory.

Steve don't forget about the rubbish summer in 2007-08 as well.

Some pretty strong winds here today with gusts in the 80's at times. Driving back from Wollongong around 1pm, the car was getting thrashed around by the wind. Was hard to keep a straight line on the freeway.

December 2011 was my introduction back to an Australian summer after spending 6 years overseas. One thing I was looking forward to after some bitterly cold European weather was a good summer...and it was a shocker.

Rain most days, little sun and cold wind from a constant S/SE quarter dominated. I seem to recall one of the very few sunny days was actually xmas day. A month that will stick long in the memory.

In December 2010 I experienced the coldest December in the UK since the 1880's and then something similar in 2011 in Sydney the following year lol
