Hi All. Been quiet for quite a while.

Struggling so far for 1mm. Hope for significantly more overnight - nothing in prospect after tonight for next 7 days.

A "horrible cold" as Twister says: dull, low cloud and dank.

It struck me coming in the back door yesterday afternoon - lighting the fire like it was winter, sprinkler on the garden as if it were summer. Little grass around here: dying from lack of rain and possibly more regular frosts than I can remember for this locality.

Hi guys! smile

Interesting start to August 2017. Here's my report for the past few days from here in Belgrave.

The first two days were fairly identical, with nippy nights and cool, mostly sunny days.

Tuesday August 1st 2017

Low: 3.6C High: 16.5C Rain: 0mm

Only other things worth mentioning were some high cloud that began arriving from the west around mid-afternoon, and some patchy fog twice in the day.

The first round of fog I saw was over the Yarra Valley while in Ringwood on my way to work in the morning.

I saw fog again late at night over the Dandenong Creek basin between Mulgrave and Rowville. This was while returning home from work via Melbourne Airport with my dad to pick up my fiancee from Fiji; my dad and I drove out to Tullamarine from Box Hill via Doncaster, Heidelberg, Greensborough, and the Ring Road btw.

Thursday August 2nd 2017

Low: 2.1C High: 16.5C Rain: 0mm

A freezing start to the day, with heavy fog between Upwey and my workplace, plus ice on the car windows when I left home. eek

Otherwise, aside from increasing high cloud, it was a mostly sunny day, especially when the fog finally lifted after lunchtime. smile

Thursday August 3rd 2017

Low: 3.8C High: 12.1C Rain: 0mm

Another icy night, followed by a cold, clammy day with little wind; I was expecting today would be my coldest day for the year, but I was wrong! poke

It was barely around 5C at best when I reached Box Hill around 9:30am! Good thing it was nice and warm indoors. smile

Cloud increased throughout the day and by lunchtime the forecasted rain finally arrived from the north.

It's been lasting throughout the afternoon and evening, with 5.2mm collected so far. At times the rain has been kinda heavy. And more rain to come tonight, judging by the radar! smile

Currently around 7C.

Got 1.5mm out of last night's rain. Sunny morning. Wave-like high cirrus (?)Quite beautiful and spectacular.

Just over 20 mm here - wonderful steady and constant rain for most of the day. Cold too - didn't even break 8C for the day.

Did you feel the tremor the other day Bob?

No Petros. I was in Bairnsdale at the time but I haven't spoken to anyone who did feel it. The epicentre, for what it's worth, was only a k or two from home.
