Some decent wet weather is heading towards the northern parts of the state tomorrow including the EP MN, Flinders

Wednesday (tomorrow) we have a low to move through that is currently developing out west, at this stage, the centre of the low is to go 50-60km North of Whyalla leaving the wrap around on the southern side so many areas out that way should get some decent well needed falls. It''ll be amplified with an Upper Level Low as well. Adelaide and the surroundings should see 4-10mm, less South of Adelaide out of it with falls increasing north and west with many places including Ceduna, Cleve, Kimba and Whyalla to see anywhere between 10 and 40mm to decrease slightly when you get to Port Augusta with falls up to 20mm, areas are also expected to see some heavy embedded cores within the rain band.

Another forum will be posted after this event regarding the Fronts that will move through the Southern Areas from Friday.

Latest models (EC & GFS) suggest Adelaide will now get 10-40mm from this Low tonight and tomorrow grin

The air is very dry still and it's mostly virga unfort atm. Not much at all reaching the ground. That will change overnight 😀

Highly doubt 40mm for Adelaide, not in a fit. 4-10mm at most I'd say but some decent falls across EP with 15-20mm falling so farmers out that way be smiling with this.

Friday and the Weekend looks much better for Adelaide. EC hasn't been too flashy lately, some of the sites that use EC need to be calibrated a bit.

If only that blob were a bit more east - looks like Yorkes should be doing reasonably ok..

It's mostly not hitting the ground as mentioned earlier. It's been raining over Kadina for 6 hours or more and they have only recorded 3.8mm. The air is far too dry atm with dew points very low. But like I said that should change overnight and I still wouldn't rule out Adelaide getting smashed during the night. Perhaps not 40mm but it's not out of the question. It will just depend on where the next band develops and its track grin

Wow - the whole rain blob is swinging off to the south-west on radar.
Certainly puts the "eye" at a lower latitude from here.
Double fingers crossed this whole thing spins over us for a while!

A nice rumble heard over the North-Eastern suburbs about five minutes ago. No strike is appearing on the tracker however, so I'm assuming it was an embedded CC.

yes it was a massive boom here Pete!

Rain has really settled in now from the more unusual direction of the NE... Still expecting around the 10mm mark in total, but looking at the satpic we seem to be a good spot atm with the low so wouldnt be surprised to see it more like 15mm by morning.

Seems to be coming from the east over the ranges and raining on this side ... Am I missing something?

no you havent missed anything. As I said in the post, its moving in from the NE - its doing this because of the placement of the low to the north of the city.

A bit of a wet night for most.
Yer, heard the single rumble of thunder as well.
system total now 7.8 mm for me. ( i was expecting more )
Now the wind has picked up a bit.
more showers today i suspect seeing as the low hasn't moved on as yet , it's just east of port augusta atm so were still in the money for showers for this setup.

As expected some nice total overnight with 10-20mm falling and not just across the metro area.

17.8mm here with 90% of that falling in darkness.

I've seen these set-ups so many times before. All it takes is for the dew points to rise with overnight cooling and the lowers getting moist bringing most of the daytime Virga to the ground. It's not rocket science just common sense grin.. The Low position was favorable for us also (as Tim mentioned)

14.6mm until 720am this morning, so in the range of 10-40mm.

Sharyn & I were down at the airport last night watching Emirates 777-300ER departing. It departed at about 1020pm. Just after it increased rate of speed and altitude (not sure whereabouts that may have been but it was before it got to Modbury), there was a flash and about at least 10-15 seconds later a rumble was heard from where we were.

17.6mm to 7am this morning when I left home, prob closer to 18mm as was still raining.

Strong negatively tilted trough friday, powerful dynamic cold front saturday, seconary trough/cold front from cold air frontogenesis on sunday. Brutal period of angry winter action. And I'll be leaving saturday morning. Cold air T possible somewhere on sat with that front....shear profile is very juicy in the lower 100hPa. Enjoy........

TS cool

Another 0.5mm in the gauge this morning, possibly falling between 720am & 9am yesterday? Anyway 15.0mm all up (14.5mm, not 14.6mm yesterday).
