Yes, welcome Hugh. Great name champ.
@Knotty Boy - I think The Donz is still in Wollongong.

Geez that low in the GAB looks the goods. Some places have already had 40 cm's past 2 days and the main meal still hasn't arrived yet.

It's been very windy here today from the north west. Surprisingly it felt rather cool in shaded areas and pleasantly warm in the sun. Only got to 18.1 here today.

Cheers Homer. If recall Donzah was on the ground in the alps sometime ago when there wasn't much by way of au naturale snow on the ground. Be good to get a first hand account. Not much to see or do in a blizzard but when the wind calms next week it would be a grand vista.

I'm getting my first hand accounts from this thread on ski.com

http://forums.ski.com.au/xf/threads/3rd-9th-august.78871/

The Donz has posted a few times today in there.
Latest BOM forecast has potentially over another metre to fall tomorrow/Monday. Spencers Creek could be well over 2 mtrs at their next reading this coming Thursday.
This is extraordinary train of systems for the alps.

Snow down to 900 mtrs on Monday for the CT's. 8-15 mm forecast for Orange but 0 mm's for Katoomba, as the air becomes drier as it heads east and over the range.
I suspect the usual suspects will see a fall - Shooters Hill, Oberon, Yetholme, Mt Lambie, Porters retreat etc...

Sounds like there could be a decent fall here.
Bitterly cold today with a high of 5C. Currently 1C with scattered low cloud. Thankfully the wind has died down a bit.

I reckon it could end up being one of the best seasons in recent times. Hugh Mungus is coming to chuck a huge dump on the Alps. When did Spencers last have a 2 metre reading?

Yes I have been seeing his posts too, hopefully he sticks around on here as well but I suspect that won't be the case.

Huh? Why.
Extremely disappointing if true.

Because he is on Ski.com and most people probably don't have time to post on two forums regularly, although I do. Completely understandable I guess, but hopefully I'm wrong.

Ok. All good. I'm just glad it wasn't anything concerned with him that was said on here.
The Donz has been a welcome addition to this forum and it would be sad to lose him in any circumstances.

@WR
wotz this about hugh mungus big dumps. Anything to do with our newest member lol. Sorry I just can't help myself.
Amazing turn around in snowies. If the northern hemisphere were to go into an early autumn and some major eruption happened somewhere we could be looking at a very interesting late August early September. But I won't make predictions that I never get right anyways.

lol the new member reminded me of a video where a guy was getting interviewed by a journalist in America and said his name was Hugh Mungus and then she got all offended.

Look up "Hugh mungus original video" on youtube if you want a laugh. poke

It is windy around here, consistently over 30Ks in the arvo, too much so the last 2 days.

Interesting forecast for offshore waters tomorrow. Possible hail offshore in the late afternoon and evening.

Might have to hire a boat!!

Lol. Sure is an odd forecast, wonder why out to sea. Perhaps it's because the upper cold pool is at it's coldest offshore at that time.

Not sure, to be honest I haven't had a good look at the charts for a while now. It has been removed from the latest forecast!!
