26 at Lake Macquarie, wowzers. Edit: Make that 26 for Norah, Cessnock and Tocal! I actually don't think it will get too much warmer though.

And the wind is back WR  well least we had one day without it ha ha

29C at Lake Macquarie!! I really thought it would only max out at 27 given that the 925mb temps were about 17C on models in the Hunter and CC. So those temps might be a bit warmer or the dry air has allowed to get warmer at sea level.

Meanwhile "only" 22C down here with lots of cirrus cloud, so I feel a bit robbed. But I didn't expect any more than 23 anyway so no surprises. Should get cooler during the afternoon too.

Moss Vale got its maximum for today at about 2:30am with approximately 16.4, but yet hasn't been above 15 during daylight hours so just shows how warm the airmass was early this morning.

Sydney is nudging a record August 11th maximum. So far 25.9C versus 26.8C in 2002.

Around this area it's quite chilly at 9C.

Quite horrid here now, temp 20.7 but that wind makes it 'feel' more like 12! Btw Weatherzones "feels like" temp broken? E.g. for Albion Park it's 20.7, Dp's of -1.2 and feels like 20.7 whereas BoM has it feeling like 12.

Hey Wave Rider, notice the HUGE inversion this morning? Albion Park was 6c at 7am whereas Port Kembla 17c at same time (only a few km's difference!). Thats a pretty speccy inversion happening. I would guess a bit of a katabatic effect happening?

Yep, and Moss Vale at the top of the mountain was 15C at the time!! Yeah katabatic effect hitting some areas but not others until a bit later.

Was also cold here in Dapto at that time, about 7C I think.

Bom undercooked temps today by a fair amount. The synoptic just reeks of more hot weather without respite. I look fwd to some stats about today. Don't think many sites if any in the Hunter have been this hot this early. The sun is still around 6 weeks from the equator. Heaven knows what we are in for then if the same stubborn pattern remains.

Actually all I'm seeing after about next Thursday is a surge of really cold temperatures spreading across the whole south of Australia, and a very large upper cold pool. Looks like really classic cold wintry weather.

Could be almost sea level snow in Tassie on Friday if setup does come off.

PS: It's windy here, what's new.

Dunno Knot, the SAM is responding and hinting at stronger cold front activity for us.
