Yeah,she was pretty close!
Quite odd for this time of year! You could still see the odd flash even after 10pm.

So you guys didnt get any hail, Ys..?..I saw some photo's from Bonny Bauer's son of the hailstones at their place...so it was very close to us..

I've only seen hail once here in over 20 years...

Been having a bit of a self restricted rant on our old M8 Cold Front's semi quasi word's that are restricted Climate Causes sort of thread of late. For which I must apologise as I once promised through PM that I would not do so. But I did at least did not start an argument in that thread.

Anyhoo, My current question is for all those down on the coast, are there adequate Cyclone shelters inplace ?
Do they exist ? Didn't Cairn's get some Arab funding for such things ?

Are we relying upon Major supermarkets to protect the citizen's while there is still to no official Shelter in Cairns provided by the Gov't.com ?

Aren't these the same people who charge ever increasing rates for sweet FA ?
he people who made these deals ?

Maybe a little shower later in the week. Apart from the often crazy wind, temps and life in general has been good

Some crazy weather down your way the other day Scott & YS? Weird having a storm in June?

It would be nice to get a shower or two in the coming week.

Wouldnt worry about it Marakai..a few of those self proclaimed "experts" on that thread were, 6-8 months ago, saying that by now we would be firmly in La nina territory..

Yep, Tully now has a purpose built Cyclone shelter/multipurpose centre at the Primary School..the roof blew off the last Shelter during Yasi..

Cairns doesnt need a shelter ..it doesnt get hit by cyclones.. wink

Hf, it certainly was a bizzare day..never seen anything like it before..

Might get a bit of fishing weather again this weekend ...was good to go last Sunday and hurt my shoulder and neck ..bugga...spanish,spotties and doggies all caught around the islands on the weekend..

I think if I was retired I would live somewhere else for May-Jul

Partly cloudy. Medium (60%) chance of showers or drizzle. Winds southeasterly 25 to 35 km/h.

Given that there is no "Cairns Times",Blair..I'd say its a fair assumption...although there really are some very strange folk up around Cairns.. wink grin

Yep its been some pretty crappy weather of late......these big highs have been hammering out the SE Trade winds and associated showers and drizzle....looks to be no real change in the near future unfortunately..

I'm surprised you linked that piece, Scott, I did feel there was some rather specific phrasing to it that would never have been used in the regular news pages. lolol

Slooowly the mm's are creeping up, 6mm so far, saturating the top of the ground, might even make the roots but I'm glad anyway. Sadly the lower temps and lack of sunshine has made all my optimistic seed plantings rather shy. I do wonder if once opened, a packet immediately goes moldy/dead even though dated years hence in viability...or maybe it's me.

Just trying to brighten up otherwise pretty crappy days Dormant..despite April being long gone..
Interesting you should mention about the phrasing..I've noticed quite an increase in the use of colloquialism in journalism these days, as well as the disturbing use of social media/facebook comments in news stories..

I was reading the following article from a US "reporter/blogger" and thought a phrase in the final paragraph sounded familiar..when I clicked on the link I found that the "author" has quoted part of my post in a Innisfail group facebook discussion on Cassowaries ...

Just looking at the Cairns radar and it has a extra set observations about halfway along the road between Kuranda and Mareeba. When you mouse over it it says "observations for portable QFRH"

Anyone got any ideas WTF is going on?
