Wind back with a vengeance here, 30 knots gusting to 40 knots (which is the severe weather threshold, incidentally....)

A tad over 40 knots is when visible spray begins to be lifted from Lake Illawarra. That is when I know its getting far too strong for my liking.

Yeah, saw that happening yesterday (I live right on the lake). I thought at first it was a clear-air waterspout, the spray was being lifted up and swirled around! Also waves crashing right up on the grass (where I live the water is extremely shallow for at least 100m out into the lake, so waves on the shore line are impressive).

The spray that gets whipped up behind the waves on the ocean beaches always looks impressive though. I could watch that happen on South Beach from the top of Flagstaff Hill for ages!

Another warmish one. Skin feels like dryed leather. The wind can dehydrate you real quick.
Has Sydney had one day below average this August. These kind of winds with varying intensity have been going on for over 4 weeks now haven't they. Unusual to last so long.

Looks like a few showers headed this way in the next few hours. Annoying rain that brings dust & that's about it frown

Just more of the same up here. Might be a bit cooler on weekend but no weather accompanying it. Front blocked again. Sadly that is about it for August now. The high belt is positioning further south again ( hardly budged all winter), troughs up the nor west of the continent. I think we are in serious trouble heat and fire wise real soon.

These winds are almost a constant 34 knots which is the equivalent of a Cat 1 TC....

47 knots at Port Kembla just now and still no warning, the coastal fringe is getting hammered. Lake Illawarra looks like a bathtub after my Nan gets in.

The winds are scary aye, this is just absolutely mental!! Some gusts would almost be 100km/h if not more here. Certainly very gusty, like right now there isn't much wind I can hear the winds getting closer again.
