Power now down at Bexley next door.
From the Ausgrid map, that's my youngest's school without power now.

Impressive! Wind has finally backed off here a bit. Apparently another surge due later as the low passes to east and bombs.

Sydney Airport has joined the 100 club.

Trees are really threshing about here, but haven't seen any down so far.

Feels pretty cold, even though its about 16-17.

EDIT: http://www.smh.com.au/environment/weathe...817-gxyx1x.html

Report on "vigorous" winds.

Isn't Barangaroo a new development? Pretty concerning if windows are breaking.

International House Sydney at Barangaroo reports of three windows shattered in the tower and fell up to five storeys.

Yes. That's a new building.
Not good.

Interesting observation - we've basically been experiencing Cat 1 Cyclone conditions most of the day (minus the rain and humidity of course).

Went out to the car before, it's parked prob 200m of more from the Lake. Covered in salt from the spray whipped up by the winds!

Had the winds been more nor west today we could have been staring down the barrel of heat and possibly raging fires given the low humidity. The synoptic shows a mammoth high parked over SA and as always for most of this winter, too far south. Today is one of those 'all pain, no gain days'. Nothing but wind and dryness. This setup can't go on too much longer surely.

Up to 60K gusts just taking the dog for a walk.
Gotta watch some of those old gum trees that is for sure.
Very ratty weather, hopefully another day or so and it's gone.

Quick video of 50 knot gusts with an interesting vorticity coming off the lake just to my right! Check it out, any thoughts what it is??? Defin associated with a savage increase in winds.

Anyone know how to embed the video? Cheers.

Nice video, have seen these gust vortices before.

There are a couple on this clip, one at 1:00 and another at 1:26 - same Lake...lol.. 7 years ago

Nice vids guys. The lake shots remind me of the Sea of Galilee. Topographical setting and lake depth enhancing the effects of a strong wind.

Gee I haven't been to the blowhole in about 35 years I reckon, would love to see it pumping!!

Swell here is starting to get bigger, probably 6-8ft but we are fairly protected from a SE swell.

Trying hard to rain, just a few spits here and there this afternoon.
Today would have to be close to the coldest day of the winter? If not it certainly feels like it!!
