Yes, that old sun is getting more sting and bite now Dave. Be glad to say good riddance to this winter. Banal. Boring. Mundane. Bland.

Somewhere in the next 2 or 3 weeks we will have the office heater going in the morning but the air con going in the arvo.

We've had to open up the windows today to cool it down a bit. The highway noise though is annoying as it echoes around the office.

Our tin shed office is not properly insulated (built way before our time) and easily overheats in the sunshine like a closed shed smile

All this talk of high SST the cruise ship is currently reporting 31C (88F) now that's warm and to add a bit of fun into the mix TC Kenneth was estimating wind speeds up to 195kmh! Fortunately we are heading well south towards Tahiti away from it.
I see plenty of frosts to come in Canberra still I understand-2C this morning with more to come.

I noticed that here today and it was quite interesting to see the smoke go straight up vertically and then at a certain altitude it just spread across the sky horizontally. Perhaps there was an inversion today?

Plants here are showing signs of spring with wattles flowering and other plants bursting into life, but the weather doesn't feel like late August (basically spring) compared to recent years.

Pretty big upgrade on ACCESS for us for next Monday. We'll see, but it has 20-30mm for us! That would be fab. EC Ensemble also looks better. GFS & CMC not interested.

2 degrees here this morning. Very wintry indeed, again.

Yes could be a fair bit of rain early next week, that would be good.

2!!! for WR - wow!!

A good frost here this morning, about -2 at it's coldest. However it's really obvious that once the sun hits of a morning, the temp shoots up quickly.

Currently about 7 here BUT Orange is already about 13!!!!

Guess I can look forward to a pretty quick jump in temp over the next hour or so. smile

Cowra, Mudgee and here all colder than Orange at the moment. Parkes is a degree warmer than Orange despite being about 500m lower in elevation.

Obviously warmer air ALOFT and will mix down soon.

Yeah Dave, it's been cold here lately!! Wasn't much warmer yesterday morning and the morning before, both being 3 degrees. So definitely still a winter feel here. smile

Beaut day here now - first real NE'er in now; pumping up the humidity, making it feel warmer today for the first time since that 28 (by that I mean the air feels warmer in & out of the sun).

Failed to even get close to our forecast max of 22 today; topping out at 20.3c. Still above average for August though. The NE'erly arrived a little too early and that cooler maritime moisture capped it off. Still, a great day not having to be cold. Tomorrow looks frigid again, as does end of the week and early next week.

22.9C here and rising, after a 2C morning.(not working today, so missed it).
Very nice to have no jumpers on today, before the return of more wintry conditions again late in the week.
Hopefully winter is nearly over, but as my late great grandmother always used to say "you just have to grin and bear it" when it comes to the cold weather.
8 more days though, and we can look ahead to brighter times.

I'd just love to see some decent, soaking, heavy, torrential, flooding rain frown

I'm with you on the rain, our water tank is empty, we had <1mm in July, and only 7.0mm so far this month.
Those days that are cold with cloud cover, and only a trace of rain are the ones that irk me the most.
A good soak of 30mm plus would be very welcome.

Agree with that Dave. Although we've had a reasonable drop so far this month, still well short on annual terms.

It was a gorgeous day around Porters Retreat/Shooters Hill today with a high in the low teens after a frosty early morning. Still unmelted snow patches from last Friday, but getting thinner and smaller. Hopefully a reasonable drop of rain tomorrow. Further ahead a S to SSE wind regime looks like it will set in for quite a while - possibly until month end.

Agree, it looks like an S-SE pattern sets in from tomorrow until the end of the month. On the coast, this means mild and sometimes showery with more or less average temperatures.
