Cool morning, looked like a light frost around in Singo.
Looks like we may get a couple of frosts for the start of September, which is usually about as late as it gets here.
The burst of spring weather on the w/e can't come quick enough, with those glorious high diurnal ranges to boot.

Wow Ron - big frost!!

We had a decent one too at around -4 or so.

Going to be a lovely day though, full sunshine and only a light breeze.

Days will warm up over the next few weeks, as will the nights but not as quickly.

Nights stay pleasantly cool until December really.

It was quite chilly around Sydney this morning, 7.8 at OH with a Westerly blowing 10-15 knots all night. It wasn't as strong out West but the wind probably stopped the West from getting too cold, bottoming out arout 4-6, but it must have felt cold in that wind.

It's warmed rapidly this, looking set to overshoot the forcast unless that cloud now out to sea moves across, which it seems to have started doing.

===============

OH looks like finishing August 9.5 to 19.5, -0.2 to +0.6 compared to recent averages (1981-2010). Bankstown will finish 5.5 to 19.7 (-0.5 to +0.7, relative to average since 1968) and Richmond 3.9 to 19.9 (-0.6 to +0.2 relative to average since 1994 for current site).

So for temperatures, August has been average for Sydney or close to it, in spite of an extraordinary run of warm maxima in the middle of the month (9 consecutive days over 20 at OH).

It's been very dry. OH received 24.2 mm (30% of average), Bankstown 25.4mm and Richmond 16.8 (both about 50% of average).

One thing about Winter 2017 has been a lack of cold days, in spite of a number of cold nights. OH had only three sub 15 days (none before June, two in June, one in July and none in August). For Sydney Winter lovers, we might not yet have had our coldest day of the year.

Horrid day today; struggled to 16.8, with some isolated showers trying to creep over the Trump Wall along the coast, thanks to the wind turning more southerly.

Warming up over the weekend (thank god) until the next burst of frigid air arrives next week - at this stage its GFS (and sort of ACCESS) vs EC. GFS likes -4c at 850 with the 0 isotherm line penetrating QLD brrrrrr. EC not so happy with that penetration; instead keeping the colder air in the friendship zone only and much further south. Guess we will know better Saturday PM; until then enjoy your 26 on Sunday. It won't last frown

Yeah dreadful and now cloudy day. That scumtherly was freezing but I expected a cold day anyway. Was going to do some work on the car this afternoon but was just too cold for me to want to be out there for ages. I'm so keen for Sunday, could even get up to 30C. grin

Though you'd be getting a bit of activity out there, looks very dark and rainy to my east.

Nice cloudscapes Eddy.

Sounds absolutely ghastly Dave!! poke I would've liked that 15C with light winds and low humidity. smile

Not sure Eddy, would be interesting if there were archives out there. Methinks you're desperate for storms!! grin

Nice cloudscapes Eddy. There was a bit of development off the coast of Sydney also. After a sunny morning, it closed in around lunch time and its been overcast for much of the afternoon. There are showers just off the coast and it's pretty chilly - only 13.2 at OH, although still up to 16 inland.

Latest forecast has bumped Sudney up to 28 on Sunday. Looking forward to it.

How did you know that?? grin

The reason I ask is, I thought I heard thunder early this morning. Looking at the archived rain radar, it seems a couple of small cells formed just to the north of the town. Hence the question!!

Anyway just flogged down for the ten minutes or so.

Thanks Steve

Can see the reason for the bitter winds and coastal showers today. Pool of cold air slipping up the coast. Joy oh joy.

Anyone notice that WxZone seems to have messed with the data feed today? I'm now getting wind obs first for my local weather and on the main screen "current conditions are unavailable" but when you click on the 24hr button they're there?

Cold showers. Outside that is. No one believes me when I say I showered with cold water all winter. I got a relative who raves on about being environmentally conscious, but hangs out in the shower for an hour or more. I am in and out in 3 minutes. Mind you, I am showering after work and not before, so it is a tad warmer.

If I had to take a cold shower I'd take a lot less than 3 minutes.

-----

It was trying to rain when I was last outdoors about an hour ago.
