Knotty? You had post after post after post that this was going to be a really crap snow season.
I'm not really sure why people make predictions like this because the weather is such a variable phenomena, and so impossible to predict on a long term basis.
It's possible that next weeks Spencers Creek total could be nearing 3 metres!
Incredible stuff!!

**Btw, Perisher has a max total of 203 cm's forecast.
I don't expect 2 metres of snow to fall in the next week but even half that is amazing for September.

I'm speechless!! Donzah must be cheering!

Winter is still ahead of us. For the whole 8 days except tomorrow it looks like NSW will be raided with cool changes. Pretty dry changes so no snow (for the CT's at least) but very cold nonetheless. Going to be a real classic wintry week.

PS: The current Spencers Creek depth is already the best in 5 years!!

PS x2: Can you give us a link for those forecasts?

Nothing special.

Thanks, I figured that later but at the time of my post I was feeling a bit lazy.

Yr.no is going for 167.7cm for the week so pretty close to BoM.

Not so sure about the no snow for CT's either WR

EC is pretty keen on it, even some snow on the hills behind Wollongong (that area is only like 600m or so!)

You wouldn't know this was about to unfold looking at the Sydney forecast.

No day forecast below 19 in the next week for Sydney - there must be plenty of sun east of the ranges and the really cold air must be staying to the south?

The katabatic effects of the winds off the divide mean in persistent westerly wind set ups like this you can have mild weather in Sydney and blizzards in the alps. There is a chance next Saturday the winds may swing more to the south with showers and much cooler conditions as the divide will no longer block the colder air.

Another massively over-forecast day again - Max forecast was 22; got to 19. Min forecast was 9; got to 4.5. Pretty damn ordinary.

Overcast, humid and some light showers around atm.

I wonder if today was over-forecast for Sydney coastal areas as well. There's warm air about, with Mt Boyce on 16, about the same as the coast and equivalent to about 23 at sea level. However, the NW'er is very weak, the sea breeze is up and running at Bellambi and won't meet much resistance. There's also a bit of cloud about but there should be plenty of sunny periods during the day.

In its 9:08AM update, the BOM have stuck with 28 degrees.

Yes the rain is a bit surprising. There looks to be a band of scattered showers extending from Sydney's West through the Illawarra and Southern Highlands to Jervis Bay, moving Eastwards, with small calls of moderate showers near Appin. 'Layers' shows a clearing edge moving towards the coast, passing through about Richmond to West of Nowra, so the showers won't stick around.

It's that Lee wave cloud nonsense. That clearing edge could stay in place all day.
Some spots of rain here with overcast skies to the west promising little change. The wind doesn't know if it wants to come from the NE or NW.

Useless, frustrating garbage this.

No such problems with a lee wave cloud here, although there are small patches to the sw, otherwise its a mainly fine warm spring day!!

To all Fathers on this forum, Happy Fathers day!! smile

It's bright and sunny here. There is some backbuilding on the Western edge of the cloud band, but it is shifting East. It should be gone soon.

Webcams show it sunny in the Cty, with the flags on the Harbour Bridge showing a NW'er. The NE'er seems to be making progress, however, having reached Fort Denison. There's a 15 knot NW wind at Mt Boyce, gusting to 30 knots, which might reach the coast later.
