You're catching up to me now temp-wise.

On a side note, how long have you had your station? I'm looking at your wind meteogram and comparing it to mine thinking that my anemometer bearings have seen better days.

My VP2 Plus has only been in service since 28th June, prior to that I had a Vantage Vue. Only moved to this part of Lane Cove in April though.

My ISS looks north towards Chatswood.

My anemometer has the million dollar view out over our harbor city!

Nice outlook you have CS22, with views like that you wouldn't have to go far for a storm chase?? Providing there is a storm nearby that is!!

I'm looking forward to the storm season cranking up for that very reason Eddy, so I'm expecting our most woeful on record! laugh

I'd love to put up a web cam but it would have to be a wireless solar powered contraption, which are not easy to come by according to my google searches.

Not looking great for bushfires tomorrow around central NSW. A hot and dry airmass and gusty westerly winds coupled with the extended dry means we should see quite a few fires (especially if there is a bit of lightning later on!).

Models are hinting at 850 temperatures of 17-18c in Sydney - so you'd think 33-34 is a good shot. I wonder if the record of 34.6 will be challenged at Obs Hill? Certainly a chance!

Eddy - did you cart a big mirror up to Myall Lakes smile

Lovely shot.

26 max here today - very warm for now and here. A relatively "hot" night coming up - 10 degree min is wild for September.

Yes well overdue! Hard to imagine any storm with the current dry spell, but that will change eventually.

No not easy as there is no power supply on the roof, and any wireless signal needs to penetrate a solid concrete building, and it can't be to bulky or visually displeasing otherwise people will complain.

Nothing really in my Photobucket worth looking at to be honest, I actually really hate PB as you're constantly swamped with advertising, and it's really slow.

Beautiful picture Eddy.

-----

This season has parallels with 2013/2014 so far.

I am referencing stats for OH here, but the pattern will have held for the Hunter, Metro, Illawarra and adjacent Tablelands.

In 2013, June was very wet (much wetter than this year, which was normal wet). July, August and September were dry (not as dry as this year). July and August were above average for maxima, September had 35mm of rain at OH, about half the average, most of it on one day. It was the warmest September record. October continued the warm, even hot and dry pattern, with Summer-like temperatures, reaching a near record 37 at OH. Serious bushfires plagued the Blue Mountains and Central Coast.

What happened next? The weather broke late in October. November was wet with average maxima, but 1.7 cooler than October. The Summer that followed was below average for rainfall, but average for maximum temperatures, mild by recent standards.

So it will be interesting to see how it goes this year.

-------

The air quality in Chatswood is, to use the appropriate meteorological term, crap, like a smoke-filled bar of years past.

Very warm everywhere tomorrow and severe fire dangers for four forecast districts.
Yet, on Thursday morning snow is forecast to 600 metres on the Central Tablelands.
http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/forecasts/centraltablelands.shtml
That's quite an unexexpected surprise!!!
A wandering cold pool is the suspected culprit.

I have started a new thread in the "Alpine & Snow" section (this page)for observations and predictions for the event which now seems likely to happen on Thursday 14th September.
Please use this rather than scattering your comments through the general day to day weather thread.
Enjoy!

Great pics Eddy and Coastal Storm.

Lovely and warm today and I agree with Ben that 33-34 would be possible for Sydney tomorrow and then quite a change.

I think there could be some storms tomorrow afternoon, not a huge amount of instability but the cold front and steering winds will allow the chances to be there.

It's heating up in places that don't get inversions. OH dipped to 18.7 just before 10 PM. It is now up to 22.2. Mount Boyce is on 16, equivalent to 23 at sea level.

It is just nudging 20 here, with 19.6 and a NWer which is gaining strength.

Incredibly dry airmass for tomorrow with humidity in the far west getting close to 10% in some areas like Ivanhoe and Wilcannia.
