Anyone know where the southerly is at now?
Good luck with your storm chasing Eddy.

Katoomba doesn't.

In the Southern Tablelands, Yass, Crookwell, Braidwood and Queanbeyan all have snow forecast above 700 metres, but Canberra and Goulburn have no mention of snow.

The Snowy Mountains region has lower level towns like Bombala and Jindabyne with snow above 600 metres, but no snow in Cooma's
forecast.

South West slopes has snow forecast in Tumbarumba, Tumut, Gundagai and Young forecasts above 600 metres.

Further north, no snow in the forecasts for the Hunter or Northern Tablelands district forecasts.

Quite a mixed bag there.

Fascinating weather huh. Hard to believe that there could be such wintry conditions in just several hours, after today's scorcher. Will be back to winter again here and on the CT's they could be getting the best snowfall of the year. In fact just looking at the models now I can almost guarantee the best snowfall with up to 10cm still holding for exposed areas like Shooters, Canobolas etc. The moisture will *mostly* fade by the time the coldest air gets there but certainly could be some flakes in those low areas that you mentioned, around early to mid-morning.

Derek, there's no southerly with this one, just a westerly change slowly filtering in and cooling temps.

Not sure where the southerly is, I think its more of a westerly change rather than southerly.

It took just after 2pm for Montague Island to bust out of the teens today!!

NBN weather still think snow is possible for the Barringtons overnight. I suppose time will tell.

Forecast for 19c tomorrow, I reckon we will crack 20c.

Looks like the 40 days and nights without rain has finally come to an end, light rain falling fairly consistently since the early hours of the morning.
And we all thought this was a dry Southwesterly change coming, with nothing in it with regards to precipitation!

A very welcome 5.7mm, wasn't expecting that much, I thought at best 2mm.

About 15mm here overnight, and closest we've been to snow all year. Floating between 1c and 2c with the occasional sleety shower.

we had 9.5mm here with some nice moderate downpours. Its exactly 6 weeks without rain. We had 10mm on August 3. Before that, there was no rain in July and had 3.5mm on June 29th. My records dont have a longer dry spell that I can see going back 10 years. Hoping it might be the very beginning of the turn with late spring going very stormy.

its going to take 12 inches to get things moving. That would need to fall over a couple weeks. We had 250mm in March and it barely moved the creeks or storages because it was just slow over the whole month. (and it was very dry before that, so ground just sponged it up)

Sydney's West got a few light showers early, all under 2mm, a 'trickle over' from the Tablelands. OH got 0.2mm after the sun came out - whether real or the work of the Phantom with the eye-dropper I'm not sure, but it's the first measured rain there since August 28, bringing the total in the last 40 days there to 1.6mm.

Cool, windy and sunny here, about 14-15 across Sydney. The clearing edge passed over shortly after sunrise.

Wow! No flakeage here (just across the way; same alt) but some fine, icy particles (graupel?) floating on the wind every now and then.

I remember some years back, we had forecast of snow to 600m or so and here in Bathurst (about 670 - 700m) we got ZIP!!!

But Molong further west at about 500 odd metres had snow on the ground - can be fickle sometimes!!

No rain here overnight, and although the thermometer is struggling does not feel as cold as it should.

After yesterdays minus dew points it is a terrible fire situation.
