As much as I want to see some rain, I hope it holds out till then as I'm having a week away starting this Saturday. And if it has to rain whilst I'm away, it has to be in the form of thunderstorms!! grin

Nice pleasant day even if its on the cooler side.

Where to?

And beautiful day up here, about 18C. Warmer than the coast.

Ugh day here - least the wind was a much nicer, though colder, se'erly. Reckon temp got to 20 - must have been for 5 mins, as it's been fresh all day after a cold night. Now over 4 weeks since recorded rain here. 4 more days to go and looks like a new monthly LOW rainfall record is certain frown

I'm heading to South West Rocks for a week!!

Even though it was cooler day with a SE breeze, what made it a pleasant day was that there was no smoke or dust in the air, nice bright blue sky.

A very pleasant day in Sydney too. A cool early morning, quickly warming into the low 20s before a cooler SE breeze arrived in the early afternoon. There were a few wisps of SE scud cloud about in the afternoon but it stayed mainly sunny.

Parks, lawns and gardens are getting very dry around after 52 days with almost no rain (under 2mm) and 100 days with under 45mm (~15% of the average)

----------

We have a 71 hour weekend coming up. An extra 24 hours for Labour Day less one hour early Sunday for Daylight Saving.

Chance of a shower here tomorrow, as I flagged last week. Not enough to wash the dust away and defin not enough to save us from our worst September on record at this stage (though I am encouraged by the amount of moisture sucked in from the se this arvo).

Might get our first sea gale of the season with forecast winds up to 45km/h on the coast tomorrow. Fairly early too as they don't start happening til late Nov or thereabouts.

Certainly pretty humid here this morning and cloudy too. Has that look that it may rain.

Ikr, that dirty red dust from the other night is still around on cars.

Yep and its well and truly established here this morning, probably only gusting to 30kmph at this stage but its only 9am so plenty of time to work up to the 50kmph mark!!

Hey WR - out here the cars are positively filthy with dust!!

Full sunshine here, down to about 2 this morning. Quite calm out here.

The lithgow blanket (easterly cloud WR mentioned) as usual would have stopped around Yetholme/Meadow Flat smile

That "rain" event I was hoping for next week now looks to be progged to go south quickly and get Vic & Tasmania. Bummer for us.

Canberra today forecast 24, us 28, interesting variance. Obviously further north than us it will be hotter still.

Hopefully maybe a light shower tonight.

If these DP's stay as solid as they are, good chance we may see a few drops around the place.

It's fairly overcast with light SE'er here, which will pick up later. There might be a few drops as well. The North Shore tends to catch any rain that's going in a SE stream. Won't be much though.

Hard to see it getting to the forecast 25 here today.

Boring as guano around here.

The interesting stuff is to the NW of the state and into SW cane toad state.
Tibooburra on 36 at 10am.
Birdsville over 38.

Very impressive. Super annoyed this won't make it to Sydney. What a tease.

Yes it is annoying we aren't going to see a 2nd event out of this in central east NSW.
The heat will move east tomorrow, but only to the NE of NSW and SE Qld, where Casino is going for 40C tomorrow.

Satpic shows a decent nw cloud band tongue - first for the season? Dragging moisture from south of Into as well. Not enough sadly to really punch through the shield - but it's a sign that the blocking pattern that has been established is breaking.

More interesting closer to us - upper cloud moving west-->east as per usual; lower cloud moving ne-->sw. DP's solid still too.

Impressive DP's now - pushing 12c! Good to see some H2O back in the sky. Hopefully that trough connects and uses it.

Baro also dropped 4hpa since 730am. Nice and sharp.

Looking ahead - possible wet start to Oct if EC has its way.

Not really that wet for us. Better than nothing I suppose. Much nicer for Central Aus

Above is total precip from EC for the period 26.09 - 06.10

* in inches, and 20-25mm is more than we've had in nearly 2 months. I'd say that's a wet start, but hey whateve's.
