Overcast, mild and breezy here. There's a clearing edge to the West, so it might be a nice sunset.

This afternoon was very pleasant, mild and sunny with blobs of stratus about.

Re the metric system, that came in when I was in my 20's. I still sometimes convert metrics to the old measures to appreciate them.

Only about 1 or 2 mm here overnight.

Showering lightly now but not much in it.

GFS - (long term one) showing a trend to rain events in the coming fortnight. could be completely wrong but at least it's starting to forecast rain to a far greater extent than much of this year.

Around 10th October is a possible event inland (in GFS model)

Also mid/late next week is reasonably likely (it seems) to see rain in the southern or SW areas of NSW & Vic + possibly Tassie.

Methinks that things might finally be altering a little in favour of precip. I hope so at least. smile

A few drops on my car coming back from Singo last night, but was a real fizzer.
Virtually over 3 months with negligible rain, almost a semi-arid climate here at the moment.
Nearby wetlands are drying out for the first time in 5 years I have been here in this housing estate.
The record heat in February was a factor too imo.

I know what you mean, stood on my balcony last night you could smell that about to rain or just started raining after a long dry spell mold type smell that comes from the ground, you could feel the moisture in the air...and yet it came to nothing.

Cloudy over the basin today and feels and looks like it wants to rain, the radar does show some light stuff heading E/NE from the mountains and over western most parts of Sydney, but little in it.

A cruel tantalising taste of what could be. Looking ahead to the models perhaps some better opportunities not too far away.

It's been spitting all morning here, but nothing more than a wiper blade swipe or 4. Not even reaching the ground.

Yep Jon,

This cloud has been a tease. Very dark and overcast this morning. Almost stormy looking skies to the north.
Yet no rain.
I drove along the M2 at about 10 am and saw 3 tiny drops hit the windscreen. The heaviest rain I've seen for a month. lol.
I also smelt that "rain on the asphalt" odour last night. Yesterday was nice to see strong NE'ers and feel just a little humidity.
Today, (sigh) we are back to gusty westerlies.
Hopefully, there is change in the wind. So to speak.
I've forgotten what the noise of rain on the roof sounds like.
Guaranteed it will start pissing down when the A-League season starts. Ha!

Sort of ironic but logical that it pisses down for soccer - after all that's what the weather would be like in the mother country lol

Well there you have it, few spits here too right now, sounds loud on the tin shed, but step outside and can't feel a drop!!

I'm on holidays from Saturday, guaranteed to rain next week.

10mm to 9am here. Light rain continued on and off after 9am but less than 1mm. Cloud band is now edging away to the east.

A couple of weak cold fronts will affect us: one today and another early Saturday, but no lower than normal maxima on the horizon. We seem to be enduring an extraordinary run of warmth with no end in sight - though not nearly as bad as northern NSW and QLD.

Ironic maybe, but this is Oz, not the mother country where it is par for the course.

There's a nice SE'erly change pushing up the south coast atm.
Moruya AP temp has dropped 10 degrees to 19.6 in the past 2 hours.
It must be a shallow change as it hasn't reached Bombala yet.
Meanwhile, Casino reached 40.2 deg's at 1.28 pm.
There's currently some massive differences in temps on the Northern Rivers section of the AWS's.
Depending on wind direction.
The winds are all over the scale atm, therefore affecting all the temps.

Nice pickup - approaching Ulladulla now but very shallow - but it'll be nice to get rid of these blasted westerlies with some moister se'erlies. Guess that means another deck of suffocating stratocu tonight.

It's been a long time since we've had some decent scud mate.
ATM, I'm happy to enjoy it to get rid of this dastardly westerly regime that we have been lumbered with for weeks and weeks now.

Casino had a real crack at the state record imo, in fact did beat the previous record/s before this year.
Grafton by contrast fell short of 35C, so that heat from inland only took out the far NE corner of NSW.
Lismore also just under 40C.
Evans Head not in the mix this time, a brief spike of 33C, and it was over.

Change has got to Sussex Inlet and stalled. 6c difference though between Ulladulla and Nowra! Hopefully it can push through but I'd say it'll struggle.

A singular mil of rain here this morning. Seemed like a little more than that tbh. Meanwhile not a drop at Albion Park which I'm kind of happy about because it gives us a completely rainless month which is something that isn't achieved often. Would be disappointing to have a 0.4mm or something to ruin it.

Btw I know feet from surfing. 1 foot is approximately 30cm which is 12 inches. PS Steve you're older than I thought. wink
