The quality isn't the greatest, but as good as it gets using a phone through a plane window.

Looking NW from Inverell about an hour ago.

This was over the border ranges from above.

And from below (taken over the top of the GC).

wow those are beautiful shots.

It actually looked alright from where I was (Mt Gravatt lookout) - see below. But it only started looking that way when it got really close.

The potential for a 2nd round hasn't been out of the question for quite awhile now - shows up on some model runs as the change reaches SE QLD. Instability will be lower by then though.

There's also a number of pretty impressive photos of it floating around on social media when it got closer to the coast especially Redcliffe e.g. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10155281067043026&set=p.10155281067043026&type=3&theater

I got a fair bit of lightning, some close, and heavy rain.

There's also been some reports of very localised wind damage such as some downed branches/trees, mainly from a few of the southern & southwestern suburbs... and some small to medium size hail.

P.S. nice shot Plumbob, those precip shafts look great. And nice shot too wetdreams, I love inflight photos.

Fantastic pics ken and wetdreams!

Felt like December today, a warm humid 32C, air thick with small insects, cicadas going crazy in every tree, everything green and lush, yet its only early October!
Hopefully one of those storms out on the downs can make it over the ranges later tonight. Another 15mm and all the tanks should be full, pretty rare at this time of year grin grin

Watching this next incoming lot on the radar die just as it's reaching here, not looking good at getting more rain from this line.

Nice photos Plumbob, wetdreams and Ken.

The Doppler showed some strong gusts and a squall line. Still a little baffled that there was no warning. I know what warrants a storm warning but have a look at the Doppler posted earlier. NSW had them in place for the Tablelands and NE NSW.

The news showed a fair bit of damage around. Maybe they are still trying to iron out a few bugs at Mt Stappy radar after the upgrade.. Storm tracker looked more impressive. Just my thoughts,

Might just sneak in some follow up rain tonight here but that looks like it'll be it . Was absolutely belting down on the way home and recorded 15mm in the rain gauge which i'll take. What a difference a week makes with everything looking very lush again.

Jeez next week looks interesting going by EC. Tuesday has downgraded this run unfortunately but later in the week looks quite juicy for storms. Bring it.

Nice pics Plumb, Ken and Wetdreams.

An unsettled afternoon here at SWR with three thunderstorms moving through. 8.0mm since 9am, most of the rain came with the second storm (it would not surprise me if it produced small hail around Stuarts Point).
Most places on the northern MNC getting less than 10mm, with storms moving at some speed and not being overly rain prolific. Highest fall to come in so far from BOMs gauges is 17mm at Millbank (about 35kms west of here).
Photos of the second storm after it cleared here -

Grafton got hit by a good one. 104km/h wind gust recorded at Grafton Ag AWS (@5:34pm).

hi Colin yeah not sure about stappy radar the rain rates by radar by what we got today didn't seem right? Looked heavy on radar with only light showers, not much wind. All good better then dry nothing

Just to make a liar out of me, we managed some rain from the 2nd line to reach here today...but it didn't register any more in the rain gauge, so still 13.4mm total

Hopefully this link works. This is Kelvin Grove this arvo, have a listen to the wind howl. Doppler showed the southside worse of as regards to wind. 80KM/H+ http://www.theweatherchaser.com/radar-loop/IDR66I-brisbane/2017-10-06-02/2017-10-06-06

Nice shots to Seabreeze.

Forgot to add Jessie, something did seem a little off. Pity you missed out on a little more rain, would have been nice for you. We only got about 1mm today here at Bracken Ridge but the wind was gusty and pleasantly cool.

The big problem, is we need the follow up rain because as the news report I posted stated, we could be looking at Water restrictions once the dams reach a certain level which could be very soon.

I thought I heard the restrictions come in at 50% capacity, and that isn't expected to be until the end of next year...happy to be corrected if I'm wrong on that though.

6mm here from the first line , which was a quick rapid fire shower. Second line was a tank job. Did enjoy sitting out the yard watching a stirred up sky. Love spring here.

Bit of a green tinge on the ground here and this evenings showers and lightning will be a great boost for it. Wouldnt have been much in it but enough for the grass for now. Keep it coming for the next couple of weeks smile
