Light rain falling in Artarmon when I went outside about half an hour ago. First rain I've seen in two months. Enough to wet the road and turn on the wipers. It's stopped now with the clearing edge nearly here.

A few drops of rain here just to the south of the City centre, and I mean a few drops as not even enough to wet the floor properly. Then the sun came straight out and that was it. Would have hardly registered a trace amount.

No site in Sydney seems to have registered any rainfall.

The sun's out now, it's mild and partly cloudy.

I've noticed just in the last 2-3 days the Common Koels, aka 'Storm Birds' have arrived back from their winter sojourn north.

I also had a few drops.
I think amongst those of us who have been under the wet stuff, we may have a combined tally nearing 100 drops. Drought breaking stuff. Not.
Thank goodness no Sydney AWS station recorded any rainfall. It would be a travesty if a dry spell like this was broken by a reading that says 'trace", or 0.2 mm.
Today's "drops" don't deserve to be recognised.
Mother Nature has to work harder than that to end this dry spell.

Nearly a page of posts regarding the spit event. Exciting.

Meanwhile Grafton was in the mid thirties today and now getting hammered by a very lightning active storm. Porn.

Yeah Kizz, I wouldn't mind being in Yamba right now.
Had three sub standard storms here in SWR, but I'm not complaining, I made the right call to stay one extra day in SWR!!

Looks like some good falls coming up for Dave. The Bathurst forecast for Sunday includes both the 'R' and 'T' words, with 20-30mm expected Sunday-Monday. There'll be more showers later in the week (2 to 9 mm).

The break in the weather coincides with the Big Race, so not so good for competitors and spectators, but I'm sure it will still be widely appreciated.

The rain's coming from the NW, so there'll be just minor 'spillover' to the coast.

------

Chatswood Bowling Club (the station nearest me) hasn't caught a drop of rain in 39 days. Today is probably number 40 as the light rain this morning apparently wasn't measurable (that surprises me). Chatswood has recorded 19 mm since mid June, with about 10 days missing in August which at OH we're dry. I can't recall it ever being that dry in Sydney, especially here in the North Shore which normally catches any rain going.

Even so, my gut feel is that in two months' time in the runup to Christmas, Sydneysiders will be cursing the rain and wishing it away.

Yep it is quite a bit cooler tonight, almost down to 10C, back in the winter pjs.
Some low 30s days coming up next week, and possibly some showers on Sunday ( 5-10mm, that seems pretty optimistic on late form)

lol Don't be greedy Homer.

A few drops is better than none. Its also better than the half a drop I got the other day. In fact when that drop hit my arm by the time i touched it ,it had evaporated. I'm looking into it though.

Well I'm back home and its certainly much cooler here than what it was in SWR early this morning.

Only the 1mm in gauge, will have to go through the data to find out what day it fell.

Bloody freezing here today. Don't know what's worse tbh - lack of rain or the persistent bloody cold.

Thought you might be exaggerating, but I note that at Bellambi it's been stuck near 17 all day with a 12-15 knot Southerly and an apparent temperature of about 12-13.

It's a bit warmer across Sydney, having stayed around 19-21 since late morning, cool with a bit of a Southerly breeze and sunlight filtered through high cloud.
