Was great to see some most welcome rain. Dissapointing to see a FB page with inflated ego's boasting about "apparently" getting the 500mm rain in certain forecast right.
It seems to be a competition on who gets the forecast right these days.

"Some" of the sheep followers on these pages keeping saying "your better than the BOM" blah blah blah.

These people and the associated weather page should be greatful, the BOM and other agencies provide models PUBLICY so we can all learn and understand how weather works. Maybe the BOM and weatherzone and BSCH should take away public access and see how good these weather pages can forecast then? They wouldn't have a hope. Talk about Hyprocties, bag the BOM but don't mind accessing the BOM's "free" content and then in turn charge the public.

I would like to know the legality on this?
Can you run a weather page and charge money if you don't have the qualifications of being a meteorologist?

Just my thoughts on the matter.

Keep up the great work on here everyone and special thanks to Ken

It's absolutely infuriating, predicting a certain amount of rain for the Sunshine Coast on Monday and then claiming that rain between Bundy and Gladstone on Tuesday makes that prediction a success? But as you say, the sheep are happy to go along with their messiah.

Certainly the BOM have room for improvement, particularly with their warnings that can come out well after severe events are underway, but that doesn't mean a fearmongering storm chaser is the answer.

What is more infuriating is you can provide all the evidence you like, point out that the rain was in the wrong location by several hundred kilometers and a day late when compared to said original forecast but the only thing that will occur is you will receive a public lynching by his dedicated worshipers until such time as the messiah does make his presence known and deletes your comment, bans you and then goes on a chest beating rant about being right.

I'd like to second that.

As an aside, I contacted BoM yesterday morning when it was apparent the SWW should be in place around Bundaberg and it was reinstated a few minutes later. Given the main focus of rainfall had shifted north to the Gladstone area a few hours prior I can understand why it was briefly lifted.

They don't always get it right but then the weather has an uncanny knack of tripping us all up at times. They are human after all.

Does Higgins still avidly follow GFS like he used to on here?

And I must have missed something as I don't really use Facebook for this very reason, too much hysteria for me.

i agree completely, it's getting out of hand when even our local papers here and sunshine coast posted his "forecasts" ahead of the bom.
and they even called it a damn forecast.

anyway for starters, since that site charges fee's, they should be paying for commercial access to the weatherzone charts that they post, not pro access like we pay but commercial access ....

he's actually taking business away from weatherzone if you ask me, so they should care and act, if only to protect their wallet.

http://business.weatherzone.com.au

i'm sure the bom would have similar rules.

http://www.bom.gov.au/business-solutions/

so i reckon at very least, weatherzone and the bom could and should crack down, and either make him pay commercial rates, or stop posting the charts for his paying subscribers.

how much do these fools pay him anyway.

He's a tosser, I've been banned for a few years now. You only got to disagree with something then your gone. I don't understand how he gets away for making ppl pay for services that are free, and with no credentials what so ever.

Yep, I got banned when I called him out on his stupid claim that BOM were negligent not issuing a tsunami watch for the small earthquakes off Fraser Island. I mean seriously...

Gimme Ken's analysis and commentary and the BOM forecasts any day.

Perhaps if people went for a day or two without actually looking past the model analysis charts, past synoptic charts and satellite loops - all of which do not show forward time steps...then maybe it might be appreciated a little more just how much research and background stuff goes into developing these systems.

Why is it that we go straight to blaming people and not look at what was observed and discuss that. Dont think calling people out is the right thing. All these people have contributed alot we all look at things differently. Just tired of the Higgins bagging....seriously who cares

Actually probably should add that there are numerous storm chasers that were worth following before fb got going and Jeff was one of a few that his videos had explanation. Anyway I guess what I'm trying to say is Weatherzone forum is alot better than fb.

Reading all the posts above smile made me laugh, so i can recommend an excellent site that is free : www.BOM.GOV.AU. First port of call for anything weather smile Try it and it has fantastic radars too. Any other information from any other site or news outlet..... just ignore, but treat it humerousley like Hollywood Higgins as someone has coined him.
