Still have not acquired a rain gauge yet but here in Perth st Toowoomba missed the big lumpy falls but the relentless steady rain and fresh easterly continues on. Very cool and wet.

Cool wet morning all.
57mm here so far, Gatton had nowhere near as much, amazing how some places missed out on those lumpy downpours.
More to come I hope?

52mm here yesterday and 16mm for today. Some amazing heavy bursts of rain and then consistent light rain.

Here is a chart created from SYNOP, METAR and a few personal weather stations. Some pretty impressive falls around the region.

52mm so far here. Sun is out at the moment.

I notice there's a massive difference between EC and GFS for Monday. I'm guessing the 10mm offered up by EC is more likely then the 90mm GFS is throwing out??

GFS is more likely at this stage, however the weather situation is a little strange for this time of year. It is more typically a mid to late summer pattern with the coastal troughs involved. With a trough moving south through our region today, and another albeit stronger trough moving west across the coral sea towards our region, in addition to a developing upper trouph/upper low close to our vicinity. THis is all being fed by moist south easterly winds from the High down south. Each on their own these precursors to rain are not all that exceptional, but together there is very high potential for some torrential convergence zones. The rainfall is however dependent on the actual time movement of these troughs. That being said, there is a high likelihood of flash flooding over the next 24-36 hours, if not some main river flooding(in some parts of SE qld and/or wide bay. *Being an unusual timing of such a weather system, nothing is for certain, and that is reciprocated through the words of the BOM extended forecast*

And I will say it again IAM HAPPY ABOUT THIS EVENT FOR ME AND KEEP ON SAYING IT UNTIL SOMEONE ACTUALLY BELIEVES ME. Actually the totals in some parts of that area are getting almost respectable.

18Z GFS run has really upped the ante in terms of rainfall totals with totals up to 500mm forecast just to the north of Brisbane (but in a fairly limited area).

10mm at home and I have noticed the shift seems to be down to the Sunshine Coast region on some models. Bundaberg in truth could do without another 200+mm at the moment after that 300mm effort a fortnight ago.

Hopefully some areas that really need it get a good drink.

Here are the falls to 9am today below; quite fascinating how inconsistent the coverage is, despite the size of the rain bands coming through.

Well I was surprised to be awoken during the night to light rain on the roof, I didn't really think it would get to us last night, I was hopeful for today. The rain has been on our roof since before 2am and rained all night and is still raining at 9:30am grin I've yet to check the totals, we have some smallish puddles so that's a good sign. I'm thinking 5-10mm perhaps. This is a great set up for us with all these small amounts as now we have grass we can tolerate a good heavy fall without washing away all our topsoil and the soil will absorb a good amount before running off seeing as it's not concrete anymore grin

86mm this event so far in Bellingen, top rain rate of 166mm/hour. I LOVE these events with the showers and storms rolling in off the ocean - but man, trying to work out what is happening using radar, satellite and WV loops...I get the general picture but the subtleties of what will happen where and why are way complicated and very hard to predict!
Today looks simpler with showers rolling in...tomorrow looks very interesting and potentially disruptive in SE Qld, quite an event still to come.
