Ridiculously dry here in Bowral, normally drier Goulburn is tracking double our pathetic 26mm in the past 10 weeks. The wind has been savage too stripping out the moisture. Sigh. Certainly is, it might be green on the surface but there is a huge lack of water in the dams on the grandparents farm up near Berrima.

If the radar is true there looks to be a train of heavy showers about to come onshore just north of Newcastle moving west.it looked the same as yesterday but there was nothing but clear sky's.

Prob dust or insects or even seabreeze front - actually prob the seabreeze front (moisture inversion - pretty common for that radar apparently: There is a tendency to observe areas of false echoes within approximately 100 kilometres of the radar over the sea. These anomalous propagations are easily identified and are displayed as a mass of low intensity echoes, constantly changing shape with no apparent direction of movement from one radar scan to the next.

Been warm this month, so far we are running and average Max at what would normally be November. Minimums also warmer than usual. Obviously drier too than average

Another glorious day, 11-26C, no need for aircon, still sleep well at night etc etc. Perfect time of the year. Happy birthday WR as well!

They are interesting echoes and I've been watching them all afternoon. They are also showing up on the TH radar. Obviously false, as no precipitation has been recorded at any AWS that they have passed over. Very solid looking echoes all the same.

Yes Steve, I will be happy for rain out here (as will many other areas of the state) However on Friday I will be out near Cattai because my son is getting married on Friday - outdoor wedding!!!!! Not looking too much like the sort of day they were hoping for it seems. Feel sorry for them but if that's the worst issue they ever have to face it'll be ok A case of immaculate timing it seems.

Wow thanks everyone You're welcome. We're a family here and you deserve it. You've been a valuable poster!! Hope you have a great day/night, and I'm guessing we won't be hearing from you for a while tomorrow!! Yeah I won't be around much tomorrow, but not for the reasons you're thinking of. I'm very busy tomorrow but tonight I will be having celebrations, just non-alcoholic ones so I can be on the ball tomorrow. The real fun will be tomorrow night!!!

The coming rain gets a mention in the Sydney Morning Herald: Sydney's wettest day in months It says something about this dry spell that 10-20 mm of rain is something to write home about. I have never seen anything like it, four months (June 17-Oct 17) at OH with a total rainfall of 45mm, about 12% of the average, including a run of 74 days with a total rainfall under 2 mm. I had a look at GFS earlier. It shows a cool few days from Friday to Sunday, with showers, mostly on Friday, then a warm up, although not particularly hot. After that, a more Westerly pattern looks set to emerge, with some moisture brought in across the State. This will bring some useful falls inland and some, but not a lot, for the coast. Maybe there will be a few storms in it.

Homer - yes the Oaks.:) Just that little bit of rain we had last week has had a dramatic impact on greening things around here. Some more this week will substantiate the growth longer You will enjoy it when your places all green at once too
