0.5mm overnight, looks like we could get some more drizzle this morning, some darkish clouds about.

Geez there's a seabreeze and a half here this afternoon. It's blowing its guts out here at home, even more so than the coast which is surprising.

Sea gales here as well. I'm about 10 km from the open Sea as the crow flies.

Here is a pair of pictures of Riverside Falls in Lane Cove National Park. The top view is during a wet spell in January last year, the lower one was taken today. The falls are absolutely bone dry:

Going for 31C today, will be the 4th day over 30C s far this month. (with 1 mandatory day of missing data), and another one next week.
I don't think we had any last year from memory, it was like 22-23 days out of 31 below average, so a big turnaround.
Tocal, which has long term records, suggests there is normally 5.1 October days over 30C, so we should achieve this one would think.

Currently 24 here at the farm. It's been a really nice morning but the cloud is starting to thicken from the West. Looks like it could be an overcast afternoon. They're going for a bit of rain tonight and tomorrow. Here's hoping, we desperately need it!

Thanks Kino.

----

Completely clear skies in Sydney today after another warm night. Yesterday's NE'er continued pretty much all night, dropping at dawn to let in light Northerlies for a while. The NE'er has been up and running again for a while and will get pretty gusty this afternoon.

OH hit 24 and has dropped back somewhat. Most of Sydney away from the Harbour and the Beach is now around 26. Ocean temps off Sydney are as cold as they were most of Winter: 18.2 deg now, wheras in Winter it rarely dropped below 18 and was ovr 19 much of the time. OH and coastal suburbs will struggle to make their forecast max of 26.

Interesting stats about ocean temps Steve.
October can often have the coldest water temps, just as you get the first warm days and ready for a swim, only to arrive at a bitingly cold beach.
SSTs here are about 20C at Newcastle, 21C at Nelson Bay, so still fresh in the water.
Sea breeze not a factor here, as it only penetrates occasionally during the warmer months, but it does happen. (noteworthy as a bit further west, eg like Lochinvar-Greta, it is almost never)

Nice pics Steve777.

Much better conditions today compared to the last few days, clear skies and the sea gale is just a breeze today so far anyway and the humidity is much higher and nicer.

Yes that sea breeze is fast becoming a sea gale again!!

I've just thrown a bag of after graze on my lawn, so hoping for at least 10mm.

Today is one of those days where the Max temp is likely to be recorded just before 9am tomorrow. Huge diurnal range today - Min of 16; Max of 16.

However; looking ahead later next week may just be wet with the first spring ECL forecast and quite wild looking if it comes off.

Just looking at some stats - Bellambi (official AWS for Wollongong, who knows why) is currently 300mm below average and some 500mm less than last year frown

Same here Kino but 13/13.

I reckon there could be a half decent chance of some widespread storms mid-next week, with good steering winds and instability. But the thing that sparks my interest the most is the closed low expected to sit in western NSW during Wednesday. They are known to produce excellent storms in the west of the state, example being December 2004. The dryline dynamics aren't there as much though, but NE seabreezes on the coast could be enough to produce a dryline of sorts anyway.

Next week looks interesting for sure - depends on where low is cutoff. Latest EC & GFS push it south which is useless for us. Fingers crossed it relocates further north.

Check out this winter-like forecast from ACCESS tho smirk
