I wasn't sure if my suggestion of overnight thunder albeit a low risk would eventuate at all so it was nice to wake up to it before grin

Models still holding to the idea of the rapid redevelopment of showers and thunderstorms from this morning as things destabilise further due to the colder air with the upper low moving closer.
Some localised accumulations of small hail and heavy rainfall due to the weak steering winds an outside chance as well.

A tiny bit of structure this morning. Unfortunately I missed the better part of it.

Wonderful to wake to rain and thunder. Must say forecasts have been bang on of late.

FIRST MOST STORM-AFFECTED SUBURBS IN BRISBANE

1 Forest Lake
2 Capalaba
3 The Gap
4 Carindale
5 Chapel Hill

http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/queen...8bf59e75e9586b8

Not sure if I agree with this. Forest Lake and The Gap do get a higher amount of storm activity from the general trend of storm paths, but I can't say that these or the others would be on top of my list.

Pretty wet spring for us so far. We recorded another 40mms with that rain on Saturday ... just the way we like it ... It looks like we are missing in this lot today, unless something generates during the day later ... smile This grandma is having fun with this weather ... the gardens and animals (ducks specially) are loving it ... smile

8.5mm around 0400 this morning with a few good rumbles. Only 1mm away from achieving normal rainfall for the month of October. Wish me luck!

Ya, me too Pete. Already have some instability building up around the area. Official Warwick station only received 4mm this morning. We do better here on the west end about 80% of the time it seems.

Solid 1mm in for this morning bringing the monthly total to 392.75mm. It's going to be a nail biting finish to get over the 4hundy for the month.

Fortunately there's quite a few black bases around this morning and you can see a few others boiling up on the radar, fingers crossed.

Will it be fair to say that if I do not empty the rain gauge and take readings daily (rain or shine), the dry days, when the readings go on the negative, it is due to evaporation? Indication of how hot/dry/humid the environment is? Starting this today.
So my rain gauge was reading 100mms yesterday early AM, but after 24 hours of fairly hot, mostly sunny day yesterday, it is down to 96mms - a whooping 4mms evaporated in that lapse of time .... This is giving me a better picture of what our plants are going through and how they react to these weather conditions ... smile (I do not think any birds can get into it to drink the water, and hubby has its own water bottle in the gardens, so fairly confident it is all evap just in case someone wonders ... )

TS at Wynnum North commenced 0957K. No hail. 18mm in 20 mins. Temp dropped from 23.0C at 0957 to 14.8C at 1024K. Now ( at 1028K ) temp risen to 15.1C. Temp needs to rise to 24C locally to produce or maintain a further storm according to 17Z temp trace. Will update this when 23Z trace gets in.

I've noticed over the past month or so that Double Island Point's dewpoint reading is always much lower than what it should be. Definitely a malfunction in the AWS there.

Apparently hail in the storm that is just near Southbrook. Slowly heading NE towards Toowoomba, will be interesting to see if it holds up.

We had 8.6mm in RD from the storm between 3 and 4am. Some reports of ~45mm a few kilometres away in Brightview.

That TS put us over 200mm for the month and 900mm for the year. Only 24mm now needed by the end of this month to catch up to the YTD average of 934mm locally.

Further to my earlier post, the 23Z temp trace is now in and it looks like a temp of 24/25C is needed to produce/maintain a further TS locally with tops to about 26,000 ft. Very cold for this time of year at 500Hpa, currently minus 19C, which suggests hail in some cells if they get going again,
