Had marble-sized hail for a few minutes when a cell went through. Plenty of activity about!

Not much in The Gap. Looked spectacular on radar before rapidly weakening. Seems no matter the conditions that these east movers really struggle to hang onto intesity over the ranges. See what the weekend brings.

22mm of rain here from that lot. Chucked it down, and with the ground still saturated, just ran off as if wed had 80-100mm.

Great shot.

A great day for storms inland but rubbish near the coast it would seem. Totally overlooked this, but personally never been a fan of days where steering is so strong from the west above say 700mb which push the anvils too far in front of the storms themselves. Interestingly the squall line we were all talking about appears to have formed inland of the Capricornia where the steering in the upper levels is much more relaxed compared to down here.

Onto Sunday now.

Nought here this arvo. Would be nice if that squall line over CQ was spanning SEQ and the Wide Bay Burnett instead. Ah well still plenty of good storms around by the sounds and we don't really need any more rain. Lovely warm, humid evening though, only drawback being the hoard of hungry mozzies that drove me inside around 6.00!

Just had another really random drop, poured down for less than 5 mins with tiny hail then just just cut off like a tap being turned off.

Well summarised. Disappointing here in Brisbane but there were certainly some excellent storms elsewhere.

Nice to see watch a more 'unusual' storm days like this though. Clear sunny skies into the mid-afternoon before widespread development and fast-moving hailstorms from mid-level storms is not usually how it goes in SEQ.

Nice photos Ken, Seabreeze and PlumbBob. What a day that was.

Sunday and Monday now, but maybe time to take it all in with what happened today.

Hey thanks for the charts again Ken.

Edit, I have to say BoM did an awesome Job today. You couldn't fault them. Well done.

Amazing footage on the ABC especially of the hail hitting the pool. Some big hail.
One of the photos on ABC at Withcott.

Had a red to black cell just go directly over us, but nothing hit the ground. I think Boms radar maybe slightly out for locations. Since the radar has been here the exact same spot on the radar is always for Windsor and has never failed. I doubt the rain evaporated before it hit the ground. or the radar picked it up at cloud level and reflected that as i did notice the rain hail shafts were at 45 degrees. But disappointing day for northern suburbs (Brisbane)

Also, because i am now bored take a look at the himarae or what ever its called, satellite and you can easily see what looks like a dust storm on western NSW which will be the westerlies for us tomorrow. Looks cool. You have to loop through all of the images from 4pm

Very satisfying day, welding in 30+ deg, checking the ever long Anvill creeping in over the shoulder from time to time, job done, distant cloud darkening, pack-up, Storm spotted, cooling winds, camera ready...
Totally enjoyed seeing some action close to home, , been few & far between around these parts !
Amazing line hey, right out to Mt Isa cool

Another hand held catch, Stats FYI, iso100, F22, 1/8th sec

Great shots everyone, we got a whole heap of nothing rain (well a liiitle bit for a few minutes off & on, didnt float the bug in the gauge) but most impressed by the endless booming thunder.
Have to start watering tomorrow, hope sun & mon will be more profitable.

Another nice one PlumbBob. .

Although we missed the storm by the narrowest of margins, it was an awesome day. The cell was right above us at approx. 17:30, then it slid to the right of us. It must have hit the airport pretty hard. That is the way it is, sometimes you are in the path other days you are not.

A few rumbles and flashes last night just around 21:00
