Don't think so. Nothing out of ordinary on the wind radar. I saw the damage path from that tornado that went through Turramurra a few years ago first hand. was amazing to see the path it cut through the bush.

The more accurate radar? That would be Wollongong

Terrey Hills is supposedly more accurate after the recent upgrades, but the general consensus from the spotters network reports is that the radar is reading too sensitive at the moment. This is the first storm event since the upgrade so it probably needs some calibration work.

I'd say the Appin RADAR is more accurate in terms of intensity currently. But the Terrey Hills Radar is higher resolution and offers horizontal and vertical polarization.

Thank you guys. Terrey Hills does look overdone, though it is definitely pretty to look at!

For sure, The Sydney radar (Terry Hills) makes moderate rain look like hail atm.

Wind picked up here in the last 10 minutes.

Badgery's Creek and Penrith had temperature drops of about 4 degrees. Doppler wind looks interesting.

Just to note on the Terry Hills radar and I'm sure they will fix it but I have light/ moderate rain here and it's showing up in the high end of the moderate rain range on the radar.
Nice to hear the rain, we need it.

That was some welcome rain, I just recorded 14.8mm on my rain gauge here in the inner west - not hectic rain.
The temp dropped pretty quickly here, winds picked up a bit to be a bit gusty - nothing too serious though.
I had the odd crack of thunder every minute or two I reckon but mostly just cc's.

Is this a chaff (radar countermeasures) cloud off the Ulladulla coast?

(Spotted while keeping an eye out for thunderstorms yesterday afternoon.)

Geez I would've been disappointed if I was in Wollongong last night. The squall line was moving straight towards the coast and then there was heaps of rotation and it started heading north and didn't reach the coast at all.

We had just over 5mm from the first storm cell in the late afternoon. Then we had an inch of rain from the squall line at near midnight. 😊

At least no damage to report other then some sore eyes from lack of sleep.

There's a rain train moving across Sydney currently crossing SSE-NNW from Kurnell over the Airport and West of the City and towards the Glenorie area. OH received over 20mm between 5:30 and 6:30, Chatswood over 40 during that time. It was really bucketing down when I woke up, and the rain's come back again now. Chatswood looks to have received the most rainfall for Sydney from this event, specifically the current rain train.

The lightnoing seems to have gone.

EDIT: For OH, it is the wettest day since March 31 towards the end of the late Feb to early April 'Monsoon' we experienced this year, and still counting.

We received 7.5mm of rain from all that excitement. There was one very close lightning strike around midnight that shook our house, then I nodded off.
