very tame at Brendale , still raining a shower , but that's about it. Just enough to make the grass grow another inch tonight.

Looks like the real show is that supercell near Jimna. I can see that making it all the way to the coast. Shame about the cells near Brisbane. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on why they were so underwhelming despite explosive conditions.

We might be in for a good show when the southerly change comes up if the westerlies haven't pushed through by then.

The Cell that passed over us and now hitting Redcliffe was pretty nasty. A mate has put on instagram hail around 4cm at his place. Reports of hail in Kallangur as well.
Was able to watch a good hail shaft just to to North of us maybe around Northlakes.

We had some good wind gusts out of it.

Interesting anecdotal details about this storm for me; at work in Brendale we saw nothing but very large rain drops, at home in Strathpine (7mins drive N) we had 1cm hail and at Petrie (7mins drive N) there was golfball size hail.

Bit of an interesting cross-section of hail sizes at different distances from the storm core.

As expected, nothing extra in the gauge at Salisbury from this afternoon storms, they completely missed here.
4.9mm in the gauge from yesterday afternoons / early evenings storm, then another 3.0mm from the storm that rolled through around 2.30 - 3.00 a.m, making it 7.9mm received all up.

Disclaimer, everything I'm about to post is about yesterday's storm (late to the party I know :P)

I don't know if anyone else noticed it, but in the radar scans for the main NE moving storm I saw something that looked eerily reminiscent of a hook echo. See below for an animation:

Also, I was lucky enough to be having fish and chips for dinner at Woody Point yesterday arvo as the storms moved through, snapped this shot of the main NE mover that went through Narangba around 6:

Is there a second wave coming on the 512km radar or is that wishful thinking?

Looks more like a NSW line, Stormwalker.
Doubt we'll get anything around here, border area maybe. If anything does make it, it'll be in time for breakfast.

The current lapse in storms east of great divide from about Taree in the south to Brisbane in the north is clearly evident on the 0710 sat image. Also possibly some small follow up cells between Goondiwindi and Toowoomba?

In previous post I should have said a1910 hrs image aest time. Day light saving, time zones etc do my head in. Anyway last twenty minutes on sat images show some 2nd line potential. Coast impact is a different question

Nought here from this event or the last few for that matter. Looks like we'll finish the month with a total of 187.8mm, well above average and by far the largest October total I've recorded here.

Those storms mark the main trough line due to move through overnight...very surprised to see storms firing where dewpoints were so low this afternoon.

A very warm evening here. Very uncomfortable for Warwick standards. Hope that line out west fills in a bit and we finally receive some activity from this event. If nothing significant comes of this line approaching from the west, the offical gauge in Warwick will record 14mm below average rainfall for the month. Temps well above normal for the month also.

Nice little split in the storms as they approach Warwick. I have seen this before...
Here's hoping...
