Here's hoping NF sounds exciting certainly been an active October but yet to see any squall lines gust fronts or hail down this way yet.Lets hope it continues on into November.

Still hearing rumbles here , maybe that late cell near Fernvale.
Cooler night is now more pleasant than what we had six hours ago

Two thundery bands moved through here and the Lower Macleay this afternoon. High-based stuff though so not much rain in it. 2.6mm since 9am.

First band (cloud in first pic was surprisingly grumbly) -

Second band -

I wasn't really expecting anything here on the coastal fringe today, so it was nice to see.
Also, there was 2.0mm in the 24hrs to 9am from a light rainband overnight.

EC wants to produce a bit of afternoon storm activity locally tomorrow. GFS and ACCESS aren't interested in afternoon storms though. But perhaps there is a chance of elevated storms near the change later tomorrow evening and into early Tuesday morning.

P.S. Pabloako, those grape-sized hailstones sound like they'd be a good size for a cold drink. smile

I don't quite have the funds to travel all that much nowdays. Fortunately I still got a show close to home, despite missing all the action to the north and south.

I think it makes up for the work lost on my computer resulting from a power outage.

Grouse couple of rounds there Seabreeze, Epic.
CJI, them bolts look soo sooo HECTIC, Whooo, bone rattlers, Would have loved to be in that laugh

Was out on the GC ParaPoint with this view of the early Beauy cell anvil 'left in pic' which thought was heading straight at us, but it slipped ESE to Burleigh which had collapsed by time we got to it, rain hit hard on arrival there too.

Also a noice display of 'Anti-Crepuscular ray in the East

When at Burleigh head, after that cell collapsed, only had the option of the distant stuff over Mortan Bay

Tho, after a bit, glimpsed a couple of sparks off-shore Tweed way, thought 'why not' and caught this 'Roll-Cloud' under the light slipping SE rather quickly, , a lucky catch ?

Had suspicions there'd be something late this eve.
Looking forward to tomoro, tho prob better chances Nth & NW of Briz, but like today, anything goes sometimes, eh cool

Great shots everyone.

Looks to be firing off early along the ranges this morning which paints a good picture for coastal regions later today. Could be an early one though...later for the SC northwards providing that high level rubbish on IR doesn't penetrate too far eastward and stuff everything up.

Last night was simply sensational. I was out in the scenic rim area waiting and waiting, and then everything started to explode around Warwick late afternoon. This is a in camera composite, around 20 mins of images.

I'm staying in Byron Bay until Sunday. As at 7.30 am Byron OBS are reading 100% humidity and 22.2 degrees. All the windows and outside door has condensation on my cabin.

Looks like a light to moderate cell that has let out a spark headed this way. 100% low cloud cover at the moment.

Awesome photos everyone.

The structure and mammatus on yesterday afternoon's storms was spectacular, and so were the amazing sunset-illuminated structures. Then got brilliant lightning bolts everywhere and house-shaking in last night's storms... then yet another round of the same at 2:30am this morning.

Biggest hail sizes I saw in photos was around 5cm.

Oh and for anyone who hasn't seen it before, this is one of the best textbook cases of clear air lightning I've ever seen in my life!

https://www.facebook.com/xtremeinflow/ph...?type=3&theater

Here's some of my own from yesterday (the 3rd and 4th shots are of a contrail left behind by a high-flying airliner skirting past the edge of the anvil of a storm):

Hope that action to the west stays well clear. It's going to be an early enough start today but that's far too early if that comes across.

Quite a few trees down in and around the Dayboro area and several ColorBond roofing sheets by the side of the road too. Someones trampoline was beside the Mount Mee road as well.

Loving all the photos, great shots every one,
I grabbed a bit of video from Rosewood , just at the bottom of the Marburg Range.
I watched that Marburg cell just explode as it passed over. It just went from small thundery shower to full blown storm almost instantly.
Fireing up the bus and looking forward to seeing what today's show will hold.

Cheers Joe

Great photos to everyone that posted.

I watched those contrails over the Northside as well Ken. Pretty high up and very cold uppers. Love those Mammatus clouds.

My Brother in-law said he got smashed at Dayboro last night, it was their worse storm they have had since living out there for over 10 years. It may even be his trampoline Pabloako as he backs onto Mt Mee road.

Another friend said she was stranded for 3 hours after the storm while she was visiting her Son and Grand kids out at Dayboro She said there was a lot of trees and power lines down. Couldn't get out due to the roads being blocked.
