Hmmm - temp quite variable out here. Seems to be stalled just to my west/SW.

We started to drop a bit then went back up to a high of just over 27. Currently about 25 or 26.

It dropped to about 25 or 25 at 1pm then went up again.

Sometime soon in the next hour or 3 we should begin to cool.

Tonight will be around 3 or 4 degrees - quite a change from the 12's & 13's of late.

Blanket back off the bed - quilt back on smile

Change is just reaching Kiama now; plenty of dark-based Cu developing, radar shows some activity off Kiama but moving se.

Change is nice and gusty - 30 knot southerlies at Kiama and 20; 32 at Albion Park. Should reach Sydney by 5pm I'd guess. Just starting to approach Wollongong City now (currently at Port Kembla).

Storms forming on coast with change - lightning active storm just SE off Kiama.

Cooled here under high cloud - about 22.

Cowra (SW of here) is 22 or 23 as well so we're not fully cooling down yet. Maybe just moderating a bit.

Sat Pic shows action getting closer with speckled cloud rapidly approaching Cowra/Parkes etc.

some sparky bits about and hour further west of that leading edge of the speckled spiral of cloud approaching smile

Yeh Kino, I was expecting the change to hit the Metro about 5-ish.
Not much development here, so not expecting much......at this stage.

Hey, Kino Boy,
Do you have a link for the St Georges basin temp gauge?
Not doubting you at all but just looking for another point of interest when following southerlies.
Cheers.

I'm going off WxZone Pro maps - it may even be Pt Perpendicular (it's a bit hard to see due to clutter).

Probably is - Point Perpendicular did that. Certainly isn't another Bureau site in the area (apart from Nowra).

Cheers Blair and Kino.
I was more thinking it may have been a private online weather station.

Some cells have formed around Mudgee/Wellington and are moving rather quickly in a south easterly direction.

Homer this change is now racing up the coast - may arrive within 45 mins the way it is moving - Kiama now sustained 30knots gusting to 40 knots! Also pushing inland now - Albion Park plummeting from 35's to 25's! Still could be a coastal shower/storm - doppler showing an area of convection growing just off the coast.

Yeh, I'm guessing it'll come through as a real southerly buster!
Has clouded over very quickly here now, although there's no "substance" to it.

Temp dropping quickly now - Orange has dropped to about 17, we are about 21 and falling now.

Cowra is only 20 - rare to be colder than here normally. Usually around 3 or 4 degrees warmer than here.

Even Mudgee down to 22 - maybe under a shower there too.

Cold here now frown 19 on the coast and muggy; still pleasant 24 in Albion Park but dropping as well.

Peaked at 36C here, and still at 35.3C.
Just short of forecast, but warm enough for sure.
At least can still go outside, unlike those Feb days earlier this year.
Holy dooly, still 34.6C at Nobbsy Head as well, not that often these temps penetrate the headland, and this late in the arvo.

It was a proper buster. I was at Kiama at the beach and the wind turned instantly. Now in Nowra and surprisingly it's pretty sunny.

Holy moly it hit 36 at Albion Park.

36 is warm indeed.

We topped out at 27 but it never felt too hot in the breeze.

Cooling trend now.

I love a good southerly buster - don't see many out here grin

Just had a nice little storm go through with some small hail and some heavy rain and wind. Now has gone very calm but quite cool.

Sydney Airport dropped 13 degrees from 33.7 to 20.7 in half an hour after the change passed through at about 4:30PM.

Might there have been any interesting clouds / phenomena with the change?

I see that the Airport had a gust of 82kph just before 5:00PM. Nearby Kurnell got 89.

Storms are developing off the coast behind the change and zipping away to the SE.

Yeh RS. Still 29.9 here and no change. Should be here any minute now, and then I'll be opening the house up to natures air-con.
I resisted putting the mechanical stuff on today and managed to keep the inside to about 25. smile
