I'm waiting for ThundaHunta to start a thread, I know he's pretty keen on this event, hope he comes back and starts it off smile

* But probably not a camera/lightning event, more so coldies and hail with the odd rumble.

A nice little rain event to finish October off.... Should see at least 10mm in the city - I think thats the minimum to be expected. Some models going for quite a bit more... ie. EC currently has 25mm for Adelaide over the next 24 hrs.

Hopefully 10 mm is enough to deal with the fire outbreaks around the state frown .

Bloody enormous Low, about the size of Australia the spiral...TBH if this system was a couple of degrees colder we'd have a shot at snow flurries above 850m. I reckon lofty could hit as low as 4 degrees with a decent shower before sunrise.

Those are some fat raindrops. Just started here. Sounds like a roar.

Ahh OK just got bulleyed. Wasn’t watching radar. Could have been some hail in that.

Swell tomorrow is going to be mighty impressive, could be some brief coastal erosion at high tide, quite rough in the gulf that's for sure.

Good coldies tonight, unstable air in the cold pool with the enormous upper trough and powerful mid and upper level jet wrapping right over it, very strong shear so combined with the cold air aloft, good conditions for cold air thunderstorms and small hail, especially the top edge of the cold pool where shear is strongest.

TS cool

Certainly one of the more intense cold pools in recent memory in terms of the wind and hail. Quite a bit of electrical activity too.
Prob not out of the question for sleet at lofty this morning with it down to 3c now.

Also nice re: Lofty. I initially thought even 3 degrees might be possible but erred on the side of caution. Cold pool weaker up here but really not far off snow temps for the high ranges really, especially given the time of year, quite extraordinary.

Just hit 4.8 in Clare...very real chance of snowflakes on Mount Bryan based on that... should be around 0-2 degrees on the summit after this line

9.7mm until 715am from the howling winds/rain/hail overnight...

good soak for the garden, might be able to get rid of some weeds as I'm hoping some of that moisture went down far enough to be able to pull them out. Ground was rock hard before the rain.
