Yeah Mike, the official forecast currently has a chance of a thunderstorm for today but I think any storms will be pretty hit & miss/localised and mainly in southern & southwestern parts of our region (with a few places having the slight chance of localised small hail, mainly near or south of the border).
More a case of some localised embedded thunder in a few of the beefier showers.

Cold air aloft destabilising the atmosphere a bit today.

And yeah Tweedstorm, it was def a spectacle to watch on radar!

Yes gleno, we could use a lot more rain out this way. This is a start however. Now enjoying the below normal temps with gusty SE winds for the next 5-7 days. It beats dry, hot westerlies anyday! Plus, will keep any moisture we have in the ground, around a bit longer. Took a drive on my motorbike to Stanthorpe this morning and saw nothing but rolling green hills! Took back roads mostly. Beautiful scenery!

Interesting watching the storms coming from the south today. A few showers and rumbles so far.

Brief but pretty intense storm just hit Tarragindi. Could hear the rain and wind coming for about 15-20 seconds before it hit, then it just went from bone dry to hammering down for about 5 minutes. It was similar (obviously nowhere near as intense) to the Nov 2014 storm - biiiig gust of wind came just before it hit. Is it something to do with storms coming from the south?

Yes, a good storm near Karrara again moving north. In Stanthorpe for the day and we have a cold rain here,
Gleno, if you want scenery, head up to Queen Mary Falls. Then continue on the road towards Boonah. What a fantastic drive!

we got similar here at Salisbury, i heard the heavy rain coming on neighbours rooves before i saw it falling, but it didn't really drop rain for to long here with only 1.6mm falling....earlier another 0.7mm fell from a small passing shower, so 2.3mm total had here today. Looking at the radar we are just missing the rain falling over Archerfield and further West currently

Happy Birthday Gleno.

This was the approaching storm that battered our region yesterday afternoon I grabbed on my phone around 4.30pm. Some significant damage around the place with hardwoods snapped off mid way up on 300mm limbs with no rot evident. The airport recorded a 98 km/h gust but it is evident winds were much stronger just north of Bundy.

Cheers guys. It is perhaps the best front I have witnessed personally since around the early 80's. For those interested it was that area in behind the tallest gum in shot that seemed to hide the most destructive area of the cell and thankfully it passed to the east (left of shot) and out over water. Having said that my partner was stuck in the middle of it and quite shaken when she got home after the car got lashed by hail and branches though thankfully just shaken with no damage to the car.

Some may have seen a photo doing the rounds of a truck blown on its side. She was pulled up near there with a dozen other cars . It came in so quickly.

I will have to go hunting around for the various shots people took. We only got power back on out here a couple of hours back. Having said that I have absolute respect for the crews that have busted their humps to get it all sorted given how much destruction there is about the place. Crews from all over South Qld rocked up today.

Bloody Awesome, CF! Love that green/blue glow! Certainly some beastly storms around during this event. Pity most of them were during work hours and 100's of KM's away.

Anyway, I did manage to get out Sunday and get a few photos and some timelapse.

Taken at Oman Ama, out near Inglewood on the Downs -

Thanks for those links Ken. Some great shots amongst them. The photographer on the Hummock had a great view. The last time I saw anything like it was down in Melbourne on the early 80's when a Coldfront swept across Port Philip Bay and bay side suburbs copped a belting. It is that memory that prompted my profole name. 200 year old figs went over like dominoes and lives were lost. The stone surface of a car park near home was lifted and stuck into the hardwood weatherboards of a home nearby.

This storm in Bundy was one for the ages and it is amazing no-one got hurt. Thr amount of large tree damage is incredible.

These are some pictures from my inlaws in Bundy. Every tree on their property coped damage. Limbs speared through their shed and caravan even!
